First we started out with spirit week. During the week students dressed up as pirates and as students from the 50’s. One day was stuffed animal day. We had a dress-up day and on the day of the game, a red and white day. The night of the big Homecoming football game went well. Hart Pirates beat the Manistee Catholic Sabers, 13 to 12. At half time it was announced that the winning float was “Agony of Defeet, constructed by the sophomores. Then the big moment came when they were to announce the 1979 Homecoming King and Queen. Last year’s Homecoming Queen, Lynn Greiner, crowned the new queen, Kathy Bowman, who in turn crowned the new Homecoming King, Max Gamble. After the game was the ’79 Homecoming dance. The dance featured “Voyagers . Let’s all hope that the spirit of Homecoming that we had this year, is carried on year after year at Hart High.
