1963 REVIEW HART HIGH SENIORS FOREWORD The HARTIAN Staff decided on the theme 1963 Review for its annual. Attempts have been made to feature the highlights of the school happenings. The activities of each group are important to those specific ones involved. However, due to space the staff endeavored to select those events involving many students. The staff is composed of seniors who volunteer to spend thought and time in planning and doing the many necessary details involved in creating a book. This year's HARTIAN contains many old ideas and some new ones in its make-up. The personnel of the staff feel cer- Sdiforial tain that the 1963 HARTIAN will prove a future source to refresh many memories of high school days. WHAT HIGH SCHOOL MEANS TO ME Pausing a moment as I graduate from Hart High and leave for unknown fields lying ahead, I recall our class motto, The future could be made much brighter if everyone would strike a match to die candle of knowledge. Four years—what have I done with them, or they with me? Have I lighted candles to brighten my pathway and that of others? Rushing in on me are memories of hours spent in the classrooms in the attempt to acquire knowledge useful for the future; of favorite and disliked subjects; of teachers spending much effort, both in and out of school, to aid me in my search for knowledge; of words of encouragement, counsel and suggestions, examples in conduct, etc. which have been absorbed, never to be forgotten; of friendships with both boys and girls, (some I hope to keep always); of football and basketball victories with their wild enthusiasm; of the band and concerts; of plays and the fun rehearsing; of die Homecomings; of banquets and proms and all the decorating. These memories and others come tumbling vividly into my mind's eye, bringing a mixture of joy and sadness, as my high school days draw to a close. The future bids me to come and so Good-by, High School Days, but many memories will go with me as aids and encouragements along my journey of life. Back: P. Peters, J. Schiffeneder, K. Marshall, F.
