FRED W. H. HALL M. A. Superintendent American History Dear Seniors, You are living in a world of change. This fact has never been so forcibly brought to the attention of many of us than during the last fifty years. During this short time, less than the lifetime of people today, we have vaulted from the horse and buggy gay “90 s” celebrated nostalgically in poetry and song into the present and vibrant atomic age. We have seen the passing of the blacksmith shop, the livery barn, the harness shop, the old general store, the simple home life, and the Fourth of July celebration with its fireworks and patriotic oratory. We have seen the advent of the garage, the gasoline station, commercialized entertainment, the chain store, superhighways, heavier than air travel, and television. We may see atomic power harnessed to full peace time use in science and industry, space ships, flights to the moon, control of weather conditions, and world brotherhood. This is a challenging and exciting time in which to live; a time to be enjoyed by those who will prepare themselves to live in this world of change. Basic to preparation to living in a world of change is adaptability which can be achieved only through'an understanding of the broad principles underlying our culture. These broad principles are best understood by taking advantage of the liberal education offered you in our schools and colleges today followed by a continued and keen desire to know and learn throughout life. All this does not minimize the need for job training, but there must be a sufficiently broad background to enable you to move in another direction in case the demand for your training no longer exists. Sincerely yours. Fred W. H. Hall Superintendent

. . u k WENDELL HILL M. A. Principal Civics TO PARENTS, STUDENTS, AND TEACHERS OF THE COMMUNITY OF HART — Our school community, which reflects the wider community in which it is found, is described and pictured in the “Hartian.” We are proud of the part that so many people have played in order to make our school life both pleasant and successful. It is with people then, that 1 would like to concern my remarks. The individual student has more to do with his or her happiness and success than anyone else. You must live your own life, no one can do it for you. A part of this thing called “growing-up” is a realization of that fact. However, you do not live alone in this world, so happiness and success also depend upon learning how to get along with others. Your boy and girl friends, parents, teachers, and other very important individuals in your environment. Young people living together and growing up together makes a thrilling experience. Sharing happiness, sorrows, successes, and failures with others produces many life long friendships. Many of these cherished experiences are recorded in the “Hartian. The patient understanding of your parents has helped you over many of the rough spots thus far encountered on the road of life. The greatest satisfaction that your parents realize in life is when you grow and develop into happy and successful adults. A good share of your youthful life is spent in association with a group of adults called teachers. Your teachers assist your parents in the task of helping you develop into happy and successful adults. Teachers believe that happy and successful young people become happy and successful adults. The “Hartian” contains a record of many enjoyable associations that have developed between teachers and students of Hart High School. The ' Hartian” is an historical record of the activities and events in which the people of Hart High School took part. We look forward, with a great deal of anticipation, to reading and seeing what events this year’s Hartian Staff has selected as representative of our school community. Sincerely yours. Wendell P. Hill Principal
