SENIOR CLASS HISTORY As freshmen, we started out along new roads of adventure and happiness 1n the fall of 1933 Although we seemed rather lost at first because of our newlv found importance, our class of fifty four eager puplls soon settled down to serlous work At our first class meeting, we elected as class officers president, Jack Salter, Vice president, Bernice Weber, secretary, Eloise Munger, and treasurer, Stanley Rudis Max Tate was elected to represent our class in the Student Council W'1th the valu able and of our class advisor, Mr Cowles, we entertained the other students of the hrgh school at a costume party on April 27 The auditorium was decorated to repre sent a apanese garden and everyone spent an enjoyable evening We returned to school as full pledged sophomores with an enrollment of fifty three We were now well started on our hlgh school careers Our class elected the follow1ng officers president, Perry Slocum, vice president, Marlan Pugsley, treasurer, Marjor1e Grate, and secretary ack Salter Helen Hackett was chosen as our Student Council representatlve Mlss Cloud made many valuable suggestlons as our class ad vlsor Our class party, given on March 15, was a St Patrick s party with everything decorated ln green XVe, as juniors 1n the fall of 1935, were elated to have finally reached the point 1n our hlgh school career where we might view the situation as upper classmen I accordance with our recently assumed importance and lofty aspirations for the year, we wisely chose the following officers to gu1de us throughout the year, class president, Marian Pugsley, vice presldent, Lorraine Stew ens, treasurer, Max Tate, and secretary Catharine Xvfllbllf Much of the winter of 35 36 was spent on projects, the object of which was to finance our main social event of the spring The outstanding project our entertainmg the semors, we selected as our class colors old rose and silver Vflth the advice and assistance of Mr Dalman, our class advlsor, we sponsored a very lovely banquet and hop IH honor of the semor class Contrary to the custom of the previous few years, the upper classmcn were allowed to 1nv1te guests from outside of our own school The theme of both banquet and ball was Dutch, thus, our most important event of the year was crowned with success As the senlors of 1937, we began our final year at Hart Hngh School, whlch was one of the happiest and filled with activity for each one of us Under the direction of our followlng officers, president, Virginia Lykens, vice presldent, Herbert Lom bard, secretary, Marllyn Halladay, treasurer, Maxine May, and class advisor, Mr Dalman, we entered whole heartedly 1nto the financing and edntlng of our very fine annual The product of our efforts proved to be one of the finest Hartians put out in years due to the careful selection of the staff and its supervislon of the annual This was made possible by a year filled with major projects The sp ech class under the SUPCFVISIOI1 of Mlss Elliot was able to donate a substantlal share toward the flnanclal support of the annual from the proceeds of the unusually successful school paper sold each week throughout the year The class organization was also able to con tribute a handsome sum toward the financing of the annual by class act1v1t1es, social functions from the major programs, and the senior play, Campus uarantxne, pre sented by the class We, the class of 1937, were rovally entertained by the junlors at a banquet and hop We, too, enjoyed a lovely and unusual skip dav Therefore, Qfontmuea' on next page, Page T enzy three 0 - . , j . . . . . , . . . . . . . . - u n . n . 1- . . 7 v ' . . . , -, . . , was the annual junior play, Spooky Tavern, presented in the spring.
