r Life at HCHS Is a Pattern; a Pattern of Activities, Studies and Schedules 5 A Pattern Is an Example, a Model to Go By Instructions; the Process By Which We Learr 8 We Utilize Patterns Daily 9 gome Patterns Qeem Rather Routine but. . . 10 11 12 They Are Essential Pieces of the Pattern of Life at Hart County High School 13 Dedication There is a teacher at Hart County High School who is always willing to help a student with the complicated patterns of school life. Whether it's using his expert mathematical skills to explain an algebra problem or transporting students to and from school safely in his bus, he is always dedicated. A math class with this teacher is somewhat different from the average math class because of his unique blend of wit, catchy sayings and, of course, mathematical studies. This teacher cares about all his students and is someone you can talk with inside or outside of the classroom. Because of these qualities, it is indeed a pleasure to dedicate this 1980 Memoir to a friend, Mr. Harold Fleming. Memoir Completes 1980 Pattern When we reflect upon the production year, we realize that finishing the pattern was harder than making the layouts of the pages There were times when staying after school until 5 p.m. was the only way to meet a dead- line. There were times when the film just wouldn't cooperate. Conducting the sales pro- gram, keeping the records and planning the skit for the assembly was hectic, not to men- tion ripping up and starting over several times. We made it just the same and feel confident that we've successfully recorded the patterns of the 1980 school year for the entire student body. After being an underclassman for three years you finally become an upper- classman with senior privileges. Although some thought they had more than others you are the leaders of the school. As a senior the moments tick by slowly toward the day you've been looking forward to for 12 years, then all of a sudden graduation. Under the direction and guidance of Mr. Watson, you have been very active as homecoming night illustrated. You redesigned and constructed the new sign for the main entrance thereby leaving your mark on HCHS for years to come. Pres. Mike Hubbard V. Pres. Mary Brooks Carter Sec. Lori Seymour Treas. It's a different pattern than that of a Sophomore because there are so many new adventures. You’ve moved up one more notch, finally getting away from the title of underclassman. It's getting one year older and learn- ing fun stuff” like Algebra II, Chem- istry, U.S. History, and don't forget those extracurricular activities! Sell- ing Tupperware and calendars, mak- ing a decent score on the PSAT and passing all your classes by more than one point are just a few of the chal- lenges we tackled. It's finally getting your class ring after 11 years of wait- ing. It's going to the |r.-Sr. It's getting to know new friends and learning to understand old friends better. The sad part of it all is the final realization that carefree days are soon over and we are much closer to adult life. Pres. — Michele McSwain V. This year you knew your way around and blended in with the crowd. On the other hand, you faced the perils of biology and geometry classes, and also learned how to wreck a driver's ed. car. You began to earn money for the junior-Senior by sponsoring bake sales and a Mr. and Miss Sophomore Sweetheart contest to choose a couple to reign over the Sweetheart Ball. You are the middle- man now but the outlook is onward and upward. When you first arrived at this high school you felt strange because you didn't know your way around. Everyone looked down at you those first few weeks because you looked out of place. After a while you found your place in the system. You learned of the pleas- ures that could be found in algebra, composition, and physical science. After you get this first year under your belt, you'll be ready for the chal- lenge of those next three years with confidence. Pres. George Osborne V. Pres. Darlene Vickery Sec. jill Westbrook Treas.
