Foreword In this year's Memoir we have tried to capture some of the melodious moments of your 1968-1969 school year. Through this book we hope to have made it possible for you to hear, and also see, the Symphony of Hart County High School. As the Seniors graduate they will take a big step into tomorrow, but these yesterdays will never be forgotten. In years to come as they turn the pages of this Memoir they will remember those days—good and bad—and will hear the Symphony of Hart County High School ring in their ears again. To the rest of the student body this Memoir will hold treasured moments of some unforgettable times of a year among other years as they were striving toward one goal: graduation. To the teachers and other leaders of our school we hope this Memoir will add to your collection of wonderful memories of your work, of students you have taught and helped, and of your wonderful friends at Hart County High. The jangle of bells, the slam of doors, the roar of talk and laughter, the rustle of whispers, the silence of thoughts, the screams of victory, the frustration of defeat, the ache of longing, the cry of heartbreak, the smiles of friendship, the looks of questions, the weariness of toil, the monotony of boredom, the satisfaction of accom- plishment, the dream of fulfillment, the resentment of restriction, the ever-growing, ever-expanding of the indi- vidual shape the notes of the movements of ones symphony. This symphony is different to the ears of each stu- dent. Each is the conductor of his own private orchestra. The crescendos and diminuendos are arranged by you. The beat and mood move to the pace of your demands—jazz, soul, psychedelic, popular, classical, semi-classical. You decide to be a listener or a member of the band. You may step to the music or idly drift with the melody. But for now, sing along with us . . . The 1969 Memoir staff expresses its sincere appre- ciation to our photographer, Billy Moorhead. We often gave him a rough time, but he understood our inexpe- rience and ignorance and gave us his best. We are grateful for his unending patience, his un- wavering dependability, his invaluable advice, his calm assistance, his rapid production, and his incomparable photography.
