Tom, Joe, and Roger Slump gained posilions on +he all-cify leam. Opening againsl Hayward, lhe Eagles wenl' down lo deleal, 26-6. Scoring firsl in lhe second game, Ells played a good firsl half buf ended in defeal, losing I4-6 +o lhe Arroyo Dons. Looking much improved, and playing 'ro a hard-foughl 0-0 half, l'he Ells eleven relurned +0 'rhe lurf lo allow Burlingame +o score lhe firsl TD. Cousey came righl back and relurned lhe kick- off 93 yards for an Eagle TD. The Pan- fhers scored again in 'lhe lasl quarler and Ells followed up wirh Hs second score on a I4-yard pass from Ralph Hayes lo Earl Bu+ler. Two missed con- version alfempls lei? The o+her lwo TD's were scored by aler+ linemeng +he Don quarlerback was lackled hard by Warren Truifl' and he fumbled fhe ball: Shaky Green picked if up and scooled 40 yards for 'lhe score.
