This modern version of the famous Bret Harte story retold the tale of George Bummer Smith and his daughter M'Liss. Unbeknown to Smith, a M'Liss dfifended he? brother of his died in the East, leaving Bummer his dad agamst all cmlcs' entire fortune. Two slickers arrived in Smith's Pock- et soon thereafter, posed as relatives and murdered George, hoping to claim the money for themselves.
