Derby Day Derby Day was held on May 3, 1985 during 5th and 6th hours. Each of the four classes and the faculty fielded a team to participate in the seventeen scheduled events. Points were earned by each team based on their finishing position. For a first-place finish a team earned five points, second-place earned four points, third-place earned three points, fourth-place earned two points, and fifth, or last place, earned one point. When all the events were finished and the scores tallied, the freshmen had won with 56 points, the seniors were second with 50 points, the sophomores were a close third with 48 points, the faculty was fourth with 44 points, and the juniors were fifth with 40 points. EVENTS FOR DERBY DAY Basketball Shoot Orange Transfer Sack Race Egg Roll Tug-O-War Lifesaver-Toothpick Transfer Wildest Hairdo Contest Three-Legged Race Coke Chugging Contest Tricycle Race Shuttle Relay Boys Beauty Contest Pie-Eating Contest Peanut Between the Knees Bubble Cum Contest Egg Toss Balloon Stomp Don't drop that orange” is the plea of sophomores Sherry Bechtel and Richardo Meaux as they watch teammates, Julie Houchin and Jeff Market in the Orange Transfer. Lining up for the Egg Roll are David DeShazer, Mrs. Gunsalus, Terry Yeast, and Donald Wayne Smith. L Representing the seniors in the Tug-O-War are Tommy Sims, Anita Adams, Chris Keller, Dee Dee Dean, Fran Rowe, and Keith Brown.
