CLASS HISTORY The Harrodsburg High School class of 1952 is finally ready for Commencement after the usual twelve years of graded school and high school. An even dozen of the original first grade class is still with the class. They are: Nancy Price, Nancy Davis, Floyd Riggins, Buddy Terhune, Margaret Gortney, Mary Ann Goodlett, Joan Begley, Billy Bond, Bill Cloyd, Barbara Dennis, Patsy Brown and Ed Robertson. Thirty-three members who have joined the class somewhere along the way bring the final total to forty-five. The class has been unusually active in school activities, especially during its last four years as a high school class. Members have played football, basketball, band instruments, hooky and pin-ball machines. They have been in plays, the patrol, and trouble. Class officers for the class's first year in high school were: Louis Veatch, president; Carl Cummins, vice-president; Nancy Price, secretary; and Joe Hurt, treasurer. Sponsors were Mrs. Ransdell and Mrs. Peavler. As sophomores the class elected its officers Floyd Riggins, President; Joe Hurt, vice-president; Margaret Gortney, secretary; and Nancy Davis, treasurer; Mrs. Wills and Mr. Sale served as sponsors. Jim Hurt was president of the class during its Junior year, with David Young, Vice-president; Nancy Price, as Secretary; and Nancy Davis as treasurer. Mrs. Wills and Mr. Sale continued as sponsors. When the class became Seniors, it reelected Jim Hurt to serve as president and named Cordelia Yeager vice-president; Nancy Davis secretary; and Buddy Terhune treasurer. Mr. Lacefield took Mr. Sale's place as sponsor and Mrs. Wills continued in the same capacity. Six members have played football for the school. They are: John Huffman, Jimmy McGinnis, William Tyler, Carl Cummins, Louis Veatch, and George James (manager). On the Harrodsburg Basketball squad have been: Edward Robertson, Bill Cloyd, John Huffman, Leroy Bruner, Jimmy McGinnis, Walter Jackson, and George James (manager). A band was started in the school the same year the class entered high school and many of the members have been valuable bandsmen. They are: Floyd Riggins, Louis Veatch, Buddy Terhune, Don Billy Robinson, Adeline Sims, Carl Cummins, Joe Hurt, Jim Hurt, Loraine Gay, Douglas Curry, Joyce Walters, and Nancy Davis. Joyce Houchins and Nancy Price were majorettes and Margaret Gortney was sponsor. Seven '52 class members were members of the School Trooper Unit. They were Joe Hurt, Carl Cummins, Buddy Terhune, Don Billy Robinson, Douglas Curry, and Nancy Davis (sponsor). Two three-act plays were presented by the class of '52. They were Cheaper By the Dozen (as Juniors) and Father of the Bride (as Seniors). The class has been an active one and after Commencement its members will doubtless find as much success as they have had in high school.
