BOARD OF EDUCATION Members of the Board of Education serve the school district without pay. They devote many hours in discharging the duties of their office. Their dedication to the education of the children of our district guarantees an operation which runs smoothly and effective- ly. Many serve term after term because they are convinced that the well-being of this community and the country at large depends to a great extent on the values and the knowledge which the younger generation receives while in school. We extend to the Board of Education a sincere thank you for its concern and dedication to the education of the youth of Harris- ville. DEDICATION MRS. MARGARET SCANLON A child's initial experience in school often establishes behavioral patterns and attitudes which, when positive, result in the normal development of social values and scholastic performance. Fortunate indeed is the child who is met, morning after morning and week after week, by a teacher's smile and who knows that his daily problems and crises will command sympathetic understanding. For nearly twenty years Mrs. Margaret Scanlon has, in her kindergarten room, provided an atmosphere conducive to the maximum self-realization of each child under her care. It is, therefore, with pride and sincere gratitude that the yearbook staff and the members of the Harrisville Teachers' Association dedicate the 1977 Pirates Log to Mrs. Margaret Scanlon. May she continue to find satisfaction and purpose in her chosen profession.
