Education in the last decade has been under intensive scrutiny and upheaval. Never before in the history of this country have so many social, economic and political forces affected a school. The population explosion, Sputnik, the expansion of knowledge and technol- ogy, the war on poverty and the battles of Viet Nam have exerted an impact upon all school systems. The federal government is for the first time pouring millions of dollars into local schools and the state, with matching funds, is reorganizing most local districts into large administrative units. It is difficult to predict the final trend but our immediate local changes include a broader curricu- lum, vocational and technical education for the students who are not college-bound with an intensive summer program in remedial reading, modern math and Head-Start for educationally underprivileged children. It has been a privilege to work with the outstanding 1966 senior class. The top six senior girls' averages are in the nineties and about sixty percent of the class are going on to higher education.
