NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Seated, left to right: David Rose, Susan Rose, President, Marie McCarthy, Vice-Presxdent; standing: Marie Chartrand, Secretary, Eileen Rice, Connie Waugh, Linda Phelps, Treasurer, Ellen Dundon, Grace Pierce The National Honor Society purports to provide an incentive for all students of superior ability to prove their academic excel- lence and social awareness. It endeavors to achieve these goals by upholding high standards of leadership, character, and service to both the school and the community. The Lake Bonaparte Chapter, seeking to translate into action its ideal of service, has, this year, initiated a project aimed at alleviating the reading needs of students in the small East African community of Kondoa, where Mr. Evan Beauchamp, a former member of our school faculty and now a Peace Corps Volunteer, is currently assigned as seventh grade teacher. The chapter hopes to be able to forward to the students of this underprivileged school a meaningful number of books and various other library supplies. SCHOLARSHIP-LEADERSHIP-CHARACTER-SERVICE
