The yearbook staff feels that this edition of the PIRATES LOG should be dedicated to three very deserving people. MR. THEODORE CRING Mr. Cring has served Harrisville Central for twenty-four years. During this time he has held the position of bus driver, which includes a regular bus route as well as late bus, both after school and ballgames, and during the winter months he keeps our school areas free of snow. His patience and good service are two characteristics which make us happy that he is co-receiver of this honor. MR. DONALD MARTIN MR. FREDERICK SMITH Mr. Martin and Mr. Smith are our senior class advisers this year and we feel that they have helped us greatly in making our senior year a success. Because they have contri- buted their guidance and aid to help us we would like to dedicate this edition of the PIRATES LOG to them, also. Mr. Martin is a graduate of the State University of New York at Albany where he received his B.A. in English. He also has his Master's in Education which he received from St. Lawrence University. Mr. Smith has taught at Harris- ville Central for the past six years. He received his B.A. in Industrial Arts from Oswego and is presently working for his Master's. We, the staff of the PIRATES LOG, wish all three men the best of luck in the future and thank them for all of their help.

It is a great privilege to write a message for the Yearbook. Since our entrance into the race for survival in science and education, we in America have come to realize the importance not only of strong and healthy bodies but also mentally alert and educated minds. Education has changed radically in the past few years and our children are being taught modern math, new changing science and the new modern English. Students in the elementary schools are being exposed to knowledge far beyond what was expected of their parents in high school a short generation ago. Most of our college bound seniors were accepted by the universities of their choice before Christmas. It is gratifying to know that many of our better students will become the backbone of the new educational structure of our country and help maintain our freedoms. It has been a pleasure to come to a school where the annual yearbook is so well done and educational. I want to offer my congratulations to Mr. LeBlanc and his yearbook staffs for the excellent publications year after year. BOARD OF EDUCATION Carl Ripley, President Frederick Wheeler, Vice President Harold Seymour Lynn Graham Walter Vallencour, Clerk Arthur Dooley Robert Hooper J. Edwin Rice
