Homeroom teacher: Mrs. Alberta Brice ART AWARDS Margie Doogan Key Winner Miss Marguerite Doogan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Doogan, was a Scholastic key winner in regional com- petition. Her prize-winning work, titled The City was a semi-abstract painting done in oil on cardboar with palette knife. It now goes to New York for judging in state and national competition. Place winners in the regional competition in Syracuse include Carole Ripley, Elton Wood, and Beryl Luther. Our warmest congratulations to all four. All Senior girls, whether enrolled in homemaking courses or not, were eligible to take part. The competitive exam- ination involves basic skills and appreciations related to the intelligent administration of a house- hold. It presupposes the ability to think precisely and effectively. Miss Gertrude Weaver received the highest rating and was declared the local 1953 Homemaker of the Future winner. She received the Betty Crocker Pin as evidence of her accomplishment.
