Girls Ta ke To The Court This was the first year in many years that HJH and HHS have had girls basketball. As a first year team the girls had a very successful season, and Coach Goforth felt that the girls were improving. The Junior Varsity squad had a record of 5 ' wins, 3 losses, and they still had a few remaining games. The Varsity squad had a record of 8 wins and 6 losses. The V squad also had a few remaining games, one of which will be the regional tournament. Varsity: BACK ROW: D. Green, C. Hoover, M. Special Olympics The Special Olympics are sponsored by the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation. It began in 1968. The students must be between 8-20 years of age and in the special edu- cation program. They also may not parti- cipate in the school athletic program. The 1974 Regional meet was hosted in Raytown. The first-, second-, and third- place winners went to Warrensburg for the State meet. In 1975 the national meet will be hosted in lVlichigan and 100 lVIissouri participants will attend. Some of the events offered were the 50- yard dash, standing broad jump, pentath- lon, swimming, and gymnastics. Some of Participants Were: Lou Colvin Alan Gorden Ellen - GM., P... M.C......., Jimm'y K.....,.. ' gjlglteggndegjmfnglefe basketball, volley , . Ellen Girffin of Harrisonville High School took first at State in Girls Pentathlon.
