1 J -, J 1 Administrators e ft Iron Out Problems i t The 1977-78 school year brought new issues for this year's administra- tion. Many proposals and problems were answered by the Cass R-IX school board and aministration. A proposal to construct a new facility for the severely handicapped, the controversy over the smoking policy, and students who live within a mile from school not being allowed to ride the bus, were a few of the problems which this year's school board was faced. The board adopted the new teacher salary for the 1978-79 school year. They also approved early graduation for 26 seniors who met all qualifica- tions. Two new members were elected to the school board this year. He in- tended to impress upon the students and the community that the criticisms they had received were unjust. He ac- cepted this job as a huge challenge. Now, six years later, Mona- chino has turned in his resig- nation to accept a position as superintendent of South Har- rison School District, in Beth- any, Mo. With him, will go Gerald Smith, vice-principal, and the coach of the boys' basketball team. Smith has been at Harrisonville two years. Monachino feels he has accomplished his goal, and that he has the best kids in the world in his high school. Monchino's most memor- able moments stem from the times any student gets invol- ved, when a student accomp- lishes something that he has never before accomplished. Some of these incidents were when the 1978 basketball team traveled to Springfield to the state playoffs, and the school came together to go and cheer the boys on. Seeing kids take pride in whatever they do was partly his reward for being principal of Harri- sonville High School these past six years.
