T hirteen Fourteen SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We started in the first grade in September of 1941 with twelve members. They are still with us, they are: Mary Sollars, Jane Colter, Max Clevenger, Larry Clendenin, Bill Brown, Phyllis Eppard, Mickey Ratcliffe, Barbara Turner, Gretchen Stephenson, Joe Sayre, Jerry Sayre, and John Sollars. Mrs. Nottingham was our teacher and Darrel Miller our principal. We entered the second grade with four new members. They were Patty Janney, Gene Glass, Patty Terrell, and Ralph Borror. Phyllis Eppard had moved. Our teacher was Mrs. McDaniel. This year we gained two more members. They were Patty Marley and Harold Ault. Mrs. Gwaltney was our teacher. Our fourth year in school was uneventful. Two more boys joined us. Their names were David Terry and Bill Brookshire. Our teacher was Mrs. Oliver. In the fifth grade we gained four students and lost two. Those gained were Larry May, Mike Drayer, Joan McCord, and Jerry Pittinger. We lost Nancy Rosinski and Alice Jane Finley. Mrs. Smith was our teacher and Mr. Reasoner was our new principal. As our last year in the lower grades began James Pierce, Joe Rinker, Bob Allen, Jack Hartley and Dick Hirons became students in the future class of ‘53. But Mary Ellen Jackson, June Choate, Harold Edminster, and Pat Terrell were missing. Mrs. Brown was our teacher. This year was our first year in the assembly. Bob Allen, Joan Sims, Patty Janney, and Mike Drayer were not with us as we started our long trek across the assembly. But taking their place were Gene Hall, Mona Curtis, Jim Rayburn, and Loretta Jackson. Also returning, after a five year absence, was Phyllis Eppard. We elected Miss Boyle as our first sponsor. We ended in a tie this year in enrollment. Gene Hall, Berdina Dick, Mona Curtis, Donald Birt, and Pat Moore left us. But Lois Watson, Russell Watkins, John Perdue, Rosalie Little, and Betty Jackson joined us. Miss Boyle was our sponsor. Mr. Penrod was our new principal. We are now Freshmen in high school. Some boys in our class are on the second team. Bill Brookshire, Jim Rayburn, and Loretta Jackson have left us. But Ann Adams, Barbara and Charles Conn have joined us. Highlights in basketball this year came when we defeated Burris in the sectional 45-44. Miss Boyle was again our sponsor. This year brought the arrival of three new boys. They were Bill Winkle, Eddie Baugher, and Rollie Walriven. Rollie was one of our high school yell leaders. But Betty Jackson, Ann Adams, and Russell Watkins were missing from our enrollment. For the fourth straight year Miss Boyle was elected our sponsor. At the start of our junior year we found that eleven members were missing. They were James Pierce, Jerry Pittenger, Larry May, Harold Ault, Joe Rinker, Ralph Borror, Dick Hirons, Gene Glass, Rosalie Little, Eddie Baugher, and Rollie Walriven. This year we elected Mr. Wright as our sponsor for the remainder of our high school careers. Now we are big time seniors. Not returning for their last year of high school were Patty Marley and Lois Watson. Both of them got married. The class numbers twenty-two. Eileen Dickerson, now married, came back just after Christmas. We have had our carnival and a number of other activities. Jerry and Joe Sayre, John Sollars, Max Clevenger, and Bill Winkle are our graduating athletes. So ends our days at Harrison. PROPHECY On June 20th nineteen hundred and seventy three I decided to look up some of my old class-mates. First I found Patty Herbert who was now a famous WLBC-TV actress and she told me that she was the only one of the class of ‘53 who still lived in Indiana. She said that she thought that most of them were in New York. She was not going by the name of Patti Bert. I traveled to New York and met Jane Colter who by then was a great promoter of boxing kangeroos at Madison Square Gardens. She told me that Barbara Conn owned an alligator ranch and was manufactur- ing alligator handbags and shoes. I asked her who else was in New York and she said that Joan McCord and Bill Winkle were married and were acting on a well-known New York stage. She said that David Terry was also on stage as a great comedian. She then told me that they were the only ones that she knew who were in New York. Jane told me that I would get a surprise if I went to the White House in Washington. So I took a train to Washington to find that Charles Conn was our President. Wanda Borum was also in the White House. She was the President's secretary. Wanda and I chatted for a few minutes and she told me that Michael Ratcliff had just finished writing his fifth book. It was called “In Love with a Rich Widow” or “How to Get Rich Quick”. Phyllis Stephens also had a position in Washington as an artist who painted the big wheels portraits. I left the White House and started toward the bus station since Wanda told me that there were some of our class-mates in Chicago. On the way to the station I noticed a crowd in the street. I looked to see what the excitement was and there was Bill Brown giving a political speech. He was trying to get elected for President for the fifth time in succession on the Prohibitionist ticket. His campaign manager was Joe Sayre and Joe was trying to get Bill to stop trying to get to be President. I finally got on my way to Chicago. I met Gretchen Stephenson as soon as I got off of the train. She told me that she had just invented a mistakeless typewriter. I asked her about Barbara Turner and she told me that Barbara was in Alcatraz. I asked her why and she said that she had been convicted of pick- ing up cigar butts off of the streets and smoking them. The reason she got such a stiff sentence was because she was a second offender and Mary Nauman who was the judge said that it was the lightest sen- tence she could give her since she had been caught once before for stealing eleven cue balls from a pool hall. Then I traveled on to Hollywood. There I met Euretta Harris who now owned a famous night club in Las Vagas, Nevada. She told me that Larry Clendenin was a news reporter for ICU-TV. She also told me that Phyllis Eppard was a movie actress and had just married her twelfth man. I left Euretta and ran right into three fellows. And who do you think they were? It was John Sollars, Max Clevenger, and Jerry Sayre. I asked them what they were doing and John told me that he was playing basketball with the Hailem Globe-trotters, Max said that he owned a big burlesque show and Jerry told me that he was modeling foi Puff-N-Coff cigarette advertisements. Well, I had seen them once again and..............................Oh, oh, I have to go now. The men in the white coats are here.
