Phyllis and Patricia Cleven- ger joined us in February. Mrs. Nottingham started us on our journey. In the second year of our school life we were greeted by Mrs. McDaniels, We were very unfortunate to lose one of our classmates, Barbara Thomas. Mrs. McDaniel passed us on to the third grade, where Mrs. Gwaltney had charge of us. We were progressing very nice, when Mrs. Gwaltney decided to promote us to the fourth grade. Mrs. Carnes, was our teacher. We were very happy to gain a new member, Lyle Plank from Gaston. Mrs. Elva Smith taught us through the fifth grade. Edna Davis coming from Muncie Harrison School, joined our class at the beginning of that year. Mrs.Golda Brown, prepared us in the sixth grade before entering into the assembly. Mrs. Adams and Mr. Stroup, our sponsors, helped us out in the first year of Jr. High. Mildred Gasper joined us that year. Lyle Plank moved to Gaston. Finally we were promoted to the eighth grade. Earl Snodgrass entered our class from Muncie. Mrs. Adams was our sponsor. The next year when yve came back to school we realized we were the “Green” Fresh- men. We had some new members that year. Barbara Thomas came back from Wilson Jr. High, Ed Alley from Royerton, and Lyle Plank from Gaston. Mr. Glancy was our sponsor. We went to Indianapolis that year to see Sonja Henie. When we entered our Sophomore year we found we had a new student, Ruth Nicely. That year we sold magazines and made money, looking forward to our Senior Trip. Mr. Glancy had charge of us. Upon entering the eleventh grade we had a lot of activities to do. Mrs. Mills helped us with our Junior Play, and the selling of concessions at the basketball games. Nila Harrold joined us from New Castle. Finally at last we are the Seniors. We had two sponsors that year. Miss Dorton and Mr. Penrod. In October we had our Senior Carnival and our Senior Play, “ The Skeleton Walks” in April. We also went on our Senior Trip in April to Washington D.C., New York, and Niagara Falls. All in all, we Seniors feel that our years at Harrison have been the happiest and most pleasant years of our life. On our journey through Pennsylvania we were unable to find any tourist cabins vacant, so we had to stay at a farm home. We were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Plank, and their three beau- tiful daughters. An awful commotion and odor woke us up the next morning. As we gazed out the window we saw Eddie Miller hauling away dead livestock. When we arrived in New York we decided to see the Empire State Building, where to our sur- prise we found Ed Alley mopping floors, so we took it for granted that he was the janitor. He told us to be sure to see the professional basketball game at Madison Square Garden, where Earl Snod- grass was jumping center, and in the last ten years he has become 6 ft. 7 in. tall. We also saw Eddie Besser, one of the star forwards. Over on the bench sat Harry Brown, their coach. The next day we went to Carnegie Hall, where we saw and heard Ruby Conner, who has become the greatest opera singer in the world. Over to the left behind a big baby grand piano, sat little Barbara Thomas, who is a great concert pianist. The next act on the program was the Dancing Twins, Robert Fink and Nancy Nauman, who did their famous ballet dance. As we werewalkingdown the street we saw posters announcing that Joyce Brown Watson had been chosen the The Best Mother of the Year. However, she still takes her children to the Free for All” Nursery, where Patricia Clevenger is the caretaker. Phyllis Clevenger was pushing a wheelbarrow, and Edna Davis, her assistant, was picking up the trash on 5th. Avenue. Just as we were ready to cross it, wham! bam! out of a souped up model A came Freddie Niccum. He had just hit the street cleaners! Someone called the ambulance, but before it came who should appear on the scene but Sherman Reed, the policeman. Duane Sites, driving the ambulance, flew right down Park Avenue to the hospital, where the head nurse, Ruth Nicely took over. This was the last day of our trip, and we felt that it was very worthwhile since we saw all of our old classmates of 52.
