Clerlzs file permanent records of individual pupils, correspond with other schools, check reports, distribute some division room supplies, answer the phone, interpret instructions from the school board and nialce records of rnoiieys collected. ln fact, they must be able to do all kinds of aeneral office worlc and lie efficient typists and secretaries as well, Many, inany other routine and nonsroutine matters are handled in the outer office by students lrorn coniinercial classes who operate the switchboard and distribute the incril, The clerks serve the principal, teachers and pupils very qraciously althouqli they are deluded with work requiring concentration and accuracy.
