Basketball The basketball team played several practice games to prepare for the season. The first league game was December 6. against Greenhills, at Harrison. At the half time we were trailing by I3 pointsg 14-27. The third quarter started out with a bang and though we outscored them by I0 points in the last half they had too much of a lead, and our boys were defeatedg 34-SI Our next league game was played December I3 at Colerain. The first half rolled around and we had a 5-point lead. In the last quarter, Colerain went ahead by three points. With less than three minutes to play, Ronnie Meyers dropped in two baskets and brought us in the lead again. The game ended with Harrison winning by 1 pointg -go-51. On our own floor, Ianuary 17, we played Mt. Healthy for our third league game. There was never more than a four point difference at any time. Bob Campbell was good on the offense with Richard Fruit as the outstanding defensive player. The final score was 25-29. Harrison and Taylor tangled Ianuary 24. Going into the second quarter with the lead of 3 points, we were stopped and Taylor took the lead by 4 points. The team fought hard in the last half but Taylor held the lead to wing 38-29. Fruit made 9 points. At Sharonville the first 16 minutes were strictly defensive with the quarter score, Sharonville, 123 Harrison, 6. In the last half Sharonville couldn't miss. The Final score was 13-35. Springfield and Colerain were the next two practice games on our schedule. Our boys were victors in both games. The tournament was held at Xavier Field House. We were matched against Anderson. The first quarter was close. At the half we were nine points behindg but the team tried in vain to get back on its feet. The final score was 22-37. In the next game we had to beat Mt. Healthy or be eliminated from the tournament. The Wildcats started out fast. We gained a Eve point lead by the half. Mt. Healthy then worked in a couple fast ones and left us with a one point lead. At the end of the fourth quarter the score was 27-27. In an overtime Mt.
