The band was instrumental in half-time entertainment and to the Husky fans' spirit. The highlight of the season was the Westchester Com- petition Festival, but the band and its beautiful ma- jorettes finished a disappointing third. More im- portantly, band president Richard Cantor made sure every member enjoyed his or herself. 93 Best Ever The 1975 Husky Soccer Team will long be remembered as Harrison's first championship calibre squad. The 10- 3-2 Huskies were not only Harrison's first team to place second in the C.W.L., but beat state ranked Scarsdale, and were undefeated in ten straight games. The Soc- cer team was led by Hugo Guaglianone who was select- ed for the all-county team. He was joined by co-cap- tains Richard Wood and Kevin Mulvey, and Tom Viggiano, Ken Fisher and Nick Celetti on the All- League Team Var. Soccer: First Row: C. Giacomo, J. Arellano, S. Vaselle, R. And Agony. 105 Though 1975 might not have been the Huskies' most successful season, it was probably their most satisfying one. Harrison unfortunately sustained several critical injuries in the early stages of the season and were win- less after their first three games. However, the Huskies continued to fight and outplayed schools which were of twice its enrollment. The 4-3-1 season concluded with a devastating vic- tory over the heavily favored Rye Garnets. The Huskies were paced by tailback Rob Contrata who was selected to the All-League, All- County, and All-State teams. Onofrio Colla- bella, Ray Ramaglia, and T.J. The Huskies increased their consecutive victory streak to twenty- two and extended a nine year record to 97 wins and just 12 losses. The backbone of the squad were co-captains Charles Opolinsky and George Scanlon, who consistently broke their own school records and developed into All-County standouts. Harrison suffered several heartbreakers due to its defense, but Huskie offense proved to be one the most potent attacks in the county. The Huskies did, however, reach their goal by qualifying for the Sectionals, yet finished with an 8-11 record. But win or lose, Harrison never failed to play exciting basketball. She was our land more than a hundred years Before we were her people. She was ours In Massachusetts, in Virginia, But we were still England's, still colonials, Possessing that we still were unpossessed by, Possessed by what we now no more possessed. Something we were withholding made us weak Until we found out that it was ourselves We were withholding from our land of living. And forthwith found salvation in surrender. Such as we were we gave ourselves outright (The deed of gift was many deeds of war) To the land vaguely realizing westward, But still unstoried, artless, unenhanced, Such as she was, such as she would become.
