HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL HARRISON, NEW YORK 1962 DEDICATION Mr. Lew in, Some of us remember you in the classroom. We remember a friendly- professor w'ho educated us in our native tongue. We thank you for the knowledge you have imparted. As our assistant with all class activities and undertakings, we remember with gratitude howr you furthered our progress by untiring efforts. The entire student body remembers your T.V. appearances. We, as seniors, will remember especially how fortunate we were to have par- ticipated in the television experiment. You made the presentations advantageous, witty, and interesting. We, the class of 1962, are glad to have been associated with you, Mr. Lewin, our friend and constant advisor. 3 ■ OR these four years you have given us a solid foundation, a base built by fine educators. N this foundation we shall design our futures. These will be deter- mined by past efforts. R EALIZING our abilities, you have shown us the right way to use them. ARLV in our lives you developed citizens well educated to participate in our government. Y VY ITH pride and heads held high we say we were educated at Harrison High School. o R D UR minds have absorbed the fruits of your teaching. May we retain this wisdom. EADY to meet the world with our youthful hope, we shall always remember our high school days. ETERMLY1NG what we shall become, we proceed to tell our story. FACULTY ADMINISTRATION BOARD OF EDUCATION Mr. Joseph Vassallo, Mr. William Ruder, Mr. John Drew, President, Mr. B. Fred Lang- w’orthy, Mr. Francis Carpenter. To the Class of 1962: Age is not really a matter of how old you are. Rather, it is an attitude that adjusts to and keeps pace with Life. Persons who have a youthfulness in spirit always want to learn. When we cease the desire to learn, we stop growing; and when we stop growing, we degenerate into fogeys and fossils. I hope that each of you will always maintain the desire to learn as you go through life; the desire to progress to higher values; the desire to make independent, critical judgments concerning the events and trends of life; the desire to be a person of character; the desire to develop yourself as a whole person, spiritually, academically, morally, and physically. Cordially, Louis M. Klein Superintendent of Schools 6 Farewell to the Class of 1962! We say it with regret when we think of the parting with you, but with earnestness when we think of the real meaning of the words. We hope that you will “fare well” in all that you are about to undertake, whether it is continued study or immediate work of other kinds. We shall miss you in the high school life for you have been such a self-evident factor for the last three years. May you take with you the energy you have shown here, as you go on to college, or to business, or to the making of your homes! Take with you also the prin- ciples of honesty and right living for which you are proud to have your high school stand! May you have the strength and vision to carry on towards the development of all of your varied poten- tialities and so to lives of happiness and usefulness. Sincerely yours Nelson E. Smith Principal Members of the Class of 1962: Congratulations seniors, on your graduation. I wish you ever)' happiness and success in the future. Althqugh I have only known you for a year, it has been pleasant working with you. In the future, remember the values we have endeavored to instill in you at Harrison High. They will point the way in the decisions you will have to make. Also re- member that you reflect the training you have received at Harrison High School. Let that re- flection be a credit to your alma mater. Sincerelv sH -y Assistant Principal 7 To the Class of 1962: Graduation from high school means the beginning of new, exciting, challenging experiences in the field of education or business. My hope is that you have the educational and moral background to grow, as a result of these experiences, into useful, interested, intelligent citizens. From you, the future leaders of our community, state, and nation will come. To. be a citizen of the United States is a great privilege. Every privilege entails an obligation. To preserve our privilege of liv ing in a free country-, we must be willing to con- tribute our untiring efforts to protect it, and to sacrifice ourselves, if necessary. Sincerely yours, The indispensable Mrs. DeMacy. To the Class of 1962: Each year brings a greater need for individual integrity and responsibility in our personal lives — and even more so in our lives as related to com- munity, national and world affairs. It is my hope that Harrison High School has given you a set of values to build upon, that you may measure up to these demands of our time. May I suggest that you continuously measure yourself against these standards, that you may work to your fullest capacity and make your best contribution to society. If you follow these ideals, I am sure you will face the marvels and unknowns of the future with con fident expectation. My personal best wishes go with each graduate. ENGLISH MR. Dear Mr. Smith, The Class of 1962 welcomes you. We were privileged to have been instructed under your guidance. Although one year does not give a principal and students time to create a close association, we are grateful to you for all your endeavors. You increased our awareness of our responsibility to our school and society. A principal is a guiding light and commander. Ilis personality is reflected in the workings of his school. Mr. Smith, we extend our best wishes for your success and happiness in your future years at Harrison High School. The Class of 1962 ON WORTHY PRINCIPLES '‘There seems to be a little problem concerning the lunch time procedure.” Too bad about the yearbook budget, isn't it? Now look here Agnes. Dear Mr. Fitzpatrick, The Class of 1962 welcomes you to Harrison High. Since this was your first year in our school, it was difficult for us to get better acquainted. To us, you were the man who quieted the study hall and whose word was supreme. You were also the man who aided us in many of our undertakings. We thank you and wish you the best for a happy and fruitful future. Mr. Fitzpatrick Behind closed doors. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 75 T he Class of 1962 SENIOR TEACHERS DAY P. Askwith .... E. Bach ...... With ever)- new experience we have grown in some way. Our faculty and fellow students have contributed a part to the fullness of our lives. In four years we have made friends, gained wisdom, and acquired knowledge in pre- paration for the challenges of the future. Each person has excelled in a different field: each has enjoyed one area of high school life more than another. But all of us have worked together contributing a special talent. Throughout high school we have felt a spirit of unity and cooperation. May we value this spirit and strive for greater knowledge in the chapters we write in the future. % 2 —
