Citizenship Education The high school students of today are the future citizens of tomorrow. In a few short years when these young people reach the age of twenty-one they will take part in the government ofthe nation by exercising their privilege and responsibility of voting. In order to be an intelligent voter, a person must have knowledge of government. Schools todoy are trying to prepare students to be responsible citizens by giving courses in citizenship education. Top: George Briggs and Class Lett: Edith DiPace and Class Bottom: Alfred Goldwater and Class The first of these, citizenship education, a fresh- men course taught by Mr. Goldwater, is divided into two sections - geography and citizen education. ln the latter part, students learn about national, state, and county government. In their junior year, students study world history under the direction of Mr. Briggs. They learn how the great nations of today originated and developed. Finally, students study American history in their senior year. Miss DiPace traces the economic, social, and political developments of our country.
