9 EDITORIAL Nos statuimus quid fiamus;” We are now preparing for what we shall become. How very true that is! For the five years we have spent in Harrison High School were our basic formative years. In this short time our minds, personalities, and char- acters have emerged from their cocoons and have become an integral part of ourselves as others know us. It was almost entirely here, within these walls, that our futures were formed. The outcome of the activities in which we have parti- cipated and the responsibilities which we have shouldered will be evident in later life; no matter where we seek our respective niches in life, each one of us will be influenced by our associations here with fellow students and faculty members. The help and encouragement of our teachers, the close friendships made, and the pleasant experiences had in Harrison will help to make up our personalities and philo- sophies of life. Now we have concluded our secondary education and are leaving, but those who follow us have the joys, sorrows, good times, and hard work of high school before them. They will be preparing their futures. The class of 1954 sincerely hopes that our successors may do this well and to the best of their abilities, taking advantage of the oppor- tunities a school such as Harrison can offer them. May they do this not only for themselves, but also for the credit of our school, Harrison High School, and our country, the United States of America. The Huskie, mascot of H. H. S., will travel with you as you look through this yearbook, as a symbol of our ef- forts and activities, and as a guide through our years in Harrison High School. 2
