REMINISCENCE published by the CLASS OF 1954 HARRISON HIGH SCHOOL HARRISON, NEW YORK 9 EDITORIAL Nos statuimus quid fiamus;” We are now preparing for what we shall become. How very true that is! For the five years we have spent in Harrison High School were our basic formative years. In this short time our minds, personalities, and char- acters have emerged from their cocoons and have become an integral part of ourselves as others know us. It was almost entirely here, within these walls, that our futures were formed. The outcome of the activities in which we have parti- cipated and the responsibilities which we have shouldered will be evident in later life; no matter where we seek our respective niches in life, each one of us will be influenced by our associations here with fellow students and faculty members. The help and encouragement of our teachers, the close friendships made, and the pleasant experiences had in Harrison will help to make up our personalities and philo- sophies of life. Now we have concluded our secondary education and are leaving, but those who follow us have the joys, sorrows, good times, and hard work of high school before them. They will be preparing their futures. The class of 1954 sincerely hopes that our successors may do this well and to the best of their abilities, taking advantage of the oppor- tunities a school such as Harrison can offer them. May they do this not only for themselves, but also for the credit of our school, Harrison High School, and our country, the United States of America. The Huskie, mascot of H. H. S., will travel with you as you look through this yearbook, as a symbol of our ef- forts and activities, and as a guide through our years in Harrison High School. 2 DEDICATION ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY Administration In Memoriam Faculty Office Staff and Custodians Class Officers SENIORS Senior Poll Reminiscence Sta Senior Snapshots ACTIVITIES SPORTS acknowledgements DEDICATION The success of this publication. Reminiscence 1954, is largely due to the efforts of one man, Mr. Otto Heddericg. In addition to his duties as a member of the English de- partment, he has devoted many long hours of hardwork to our yearbook. We feel that he has done much more than his share. One cannot imagine the various time-consuming details which go into the publishing of such a book as Reminiscence. Yet Mr. Heddericg skillfully and enthusiastically tackles each job, never complaining and always patientlly giving advice. Because of his friendly help and outstanding ability, the class of 1954 is proud to dedicate this yearbook to Mr. Otto Heddericg. HANNON AN EVERLASTING MEMORY A figure forms in the darkness An eternal light to be, And will remain throughout the years AN EVERLASTING MEMORY. A memory of the man we lost A memory of the praise, That was given to him day by day For his many likeable ways. A memory of the way he served His town, his friends, his school; He made the gift of kindness His simple everyday tool. God has called him home to rest, A rest so well deserved, And all the work he did on earth Will be followed and observed. So to you, Mr. Hannon, Your students send their love. And hope you will look down upon us From your haven up above. A field goal with only a minute to go enabled Blessed Sacrament to cop a 10-7 win. The Maroon and White found itself with a decisive trouncing of the Eastchester Eagles. After that came three successive victories — over Pleasantville 24-6, over Bellows 7-6, and over Edison Tech 25-7. A fighting Harrison team lost to Rye 38-0. The Harrison J.V. team won six straight games. The squad seems to be well loaded with potential material for the 1954 season. Carlin, Nicita, Castiglia, Meilor and Straface starred consistently throughout the season. The J.V.’s record shows wins over Blessed Sacrament 6-0, Eastchester 18-0, Pleasantville 12-0, Bellows 34-2, Port Chester 12-0, and Rye 12-2. 65 Pete MORRIS — a hard defensive halfback and strong passer.
