EDITORIAL Like the sleek, sturdy clippers that ranged from our shores just a century past, we should be prepared now for our long sail to distant ports. Then as today, only smaller craft hug the shores and seek shallow waters. The clipper was a product of steady studying, from a choice of timber in the forest, to forge, to keel, to launching. When thought, knowledge, and planning had been merged into its majestic structure, it successfully breasted the blue of the horizon. The clipper was a conqueror and asked no favors, even of the barometer. It was prepared to buffet wind, weather, and all elements. So, we, who have been preparing, mentally and physically, for our own journey, should set sail on a high compass. We should point our prow into deep waters and steer as straight a course to success as possible. We should avoid the shore-side shoals and sail on with earned confidence through the deep waters to the harbors of healthy happiness. Our Class of 1952 will soon weigh anchor and be beyond the breakwater of Harrison High School. Then we must head our own helms. So, may each of us bring our own precious hopes safe to our own distant haven. BON VOYAGE! '5 2 .
