IN MEMORIAM The fall term brought sad news to students and faculty alike, for Miss Fallon passed away. Miss Fallon will long be mourned, not only by the many excellent home managers and cooks whom she trained during her twenty-one years in the Harrison schools, but by everyone who had ever met her. We pause here to give thanks for what she has done for us. We, of the Class of 1946, have chosen as our dedicatee a man who has contributed immeasurably to the prestige and progress of this school. Coming to Harrison High in 1935, he has always been ready and willing to do more than his part to promote the welfare of all. Through his understanding, sincerity, integrity, and foresight, he has proved to be an inspiring leader. His service as teacher of advanced sciences is a monument to his brilliance and fine character. For a time during the recent war, he served with the armed forces. His return to Harrison High School was eagerly welcomed by all. Those with whom he has come in contact will long remember him for the many informal, informative discussions we were privileged to have with him, and for his sound advice, keen judgment, and friendly manner. As a member of the faculty, sponsor of numerous clubs, and as our senior and junior class adviser, he has had a valuable influence upon us. We shall remember him for his likeable personality, and as a true man in whom we can place complete trust. With his open-mindedness and helpfulness, he has greatly aided us throughout our high school years, both as a group, and as individuals. The Class of 1946 is therefore proud and happy to dedicate this Yearbook to MR. BERNARD AUERBACH. 4 BERNARD AUERBACH BOARD OF EDUCATION Mr. Louis M. But we find it hard to limit our thanks to three or four teachers. Therefore, we want to take this opportunity to thank all of the faculty, all of whom have helped us immeasurably on innumerable occasions. You will find no definite theme in this book. We of the Senior Class have found apt and pertinent thoughts only too numerous. World peace, our victory over fascism, the atomic age, and the Four Freedoms all would provide appropriate bases upon which to organize a Yearbook. But we feel that such lofty thoughts are better left to those more cap- able of self-expression. In this, one of the most momentous periods in history, we find our- selves the first class to graduate since the war. We realize the respon- sibilities ahead. As citizens of tomorrow, we are fully aware that only through mutual understanding and international cooperation can a just and permanent peace be secured. It remains for us to do our part in making this a better world for all. 14 SENIOR COUNCIL A. Frattarola R. Driscoll, Secretary R. Bisceglia, President E. Kneuer, Vice President J. Johnston A. For the first game of the 1945 campaign the Maroon and White journeyed to East- chester. After a close first half, the Eagles proved too strong and won 26 to 6. Quickly recovering from their loss, the Huskies rolled up a large score against Tuckahoe and won easily 21 to 0. The next week Scarsdale won a tight game 14 to 0. On the following Saturday the Edison Tech eleven moved in to win 18 to 6. The neighboring Bellows team then attempted to defeat the somewhat depressed Husky squad, but found that it was not their day. When the final whistle blew the score was 32 to 13 in our favor. With new spirit the team moved on Rye to play the undefeated Garnets. After a terrific battle Harrison left the field on the short end of a 16 to 0 scoje. In the last game Harrison played the New York School for the Deaf and came out on top, 32 to 25, to close the season with a record of three wins and four defeats. With Captain Hank Trimarchi leading them, the outlook for a successful season seemed bright, especially with the return of several lettermen. For the second straight year Harrison was not defeated by any team outside the S. W. I. A. G, although we did play a strong Saunders Tech team for the first time. The final record for the year was 13 vic- tories against five losses. JUNIOR VARSITY Kneeling—E). Donovan, Manager. First Row—J. Castiglia, A. Fraioli, E. McArdle, Mr. Rosenthal, Coach. HALL OF FAME This feature is to determine the most all-around boy and girl in the graduating class. The four nominees chosen by the Senior Class were: Barbara Loughman, Anna LeGrazie, Robert Bisceglia, and Robert Polum- baum. Though only two candidates can be chosen for the Hall of Fame, it is a great honor to be nominated. At a school assembly a speech was given by another student about each of the candidates, stressing their service, loyalty, school spirit, courtesy, and friendli- ness. The students then cast their votes. When the votes were counted two more students had been elected to the Hall of fame. REMINI- SCENCE is happy to present the winners—Anna Le- Grazie and Robert Bisceglia. 61 m pity GIRL Theresa Selvaggio...........Most Artistic..... Mary J. McGillicuddy.....Most Sophisticated.... Upon opening it anxiously, we found therein an extraordinary newspaper named the DAILY ATOM, accompanied by a note which merely read, To the Class of 1946, from the Three Weird Sisters. What amazed us most was the date on the newspaper: 1300. Tuesday, January 30, 1967.
