They also marched at all home football games and the Pep band played at all the home basketball games. The Sym- phonic band presented a winter and spring concert which was enjoyed by many people in the community. The band wrapped up one of their most successful years with a picnic at the city park for all their accomplishments. The band members would like to give a special thanks to their band director, Charles Sheldon, who kept them going. The Hornets showed plenty of of fensive punch, all season long, gaining 2,525 yards and scoring 33 touchdowns. Plaued by fumbles throughout the season probably cost the team the Conference Cham 1 pionship. But with all considered, we accomplished many of our team goals in 1976. Mr. Harris said, 1 was very proud ofthe young men who played football in 1976 and I am sure that all of us who were part of the team will have fine memories of the 1976 season for many years to Q. Cross Countr 1 976 The Hornet Cross Country Team had a tremendous season in the fall of 1976. Bruce Brandon, the team coach, was proud of their performance. When asked. he had this to say about the teamg NThe Harrison Hornet C-C Team had an outstanding duel meet record during the 76 season with l l wins and l lossf' This is the best record ever earned by the Hornets during four years of competition at the var- sity level. The team was composed mostly of upper classmen. five juniors, and two seniors. Five team members were veteran runners. Their experience in running probably contributed to the very successful season. Although Cross Country had it's best season ever, the team placed only 10th in the regionals. out of 17 teams. No member of the Harrison squad qualified for the state finals. Pictured at left. Yearbook Staff Metamorphosis was produced by the Journalism students of Harrison Community High School. In addition to the year- book, the class also produced 6'High Times, a small but factual newspaper. Lisa Beavers edited Metamorphosis, and Larry Simons was the editor of High Times. Ms. Miriam Bender advised the class through the advertising and infancy stage. Ms. Bender moved to Lansing in January. At this point Dorne Davis took charge of the class. Throughout the year many exciting events took place while working with the yearbook staff. We would like to thank the following people for their time and assistance: Brett Whitmore, Kim Shoaf, and Rocky Welch all contributed their artistic ability. Craig Sharp contributed photography. A special thanks to Eric Gruesbeck of Intercollegiate Press. We pay tribute in words to Leonard Hawks of Guys and Dolls Photography. Without his gracious attitude, eye, and opti- mism, Metamorphosis might just be a word. 5 Foreign Language lub The first year of the Harrison High School foreign language club was both eventful and successful. With only 8 members they sponsored a Dance and several bake sales to earn money. With their profits they went to Detroit to see The Little Prince. They also spon- sored a french dinner, which had many delicacies. Foreign Language, L to R: S. Rumsey, V. Farrand, L. Skowronski, J. Collins, S. McGowan, P. Prenger, L. The Conservation Club developed a nature trail that connects the High School with Hillside and Larson elementary schools. The Conservation Club also puts on a dance. All profits from the dance were donated to the Wile's family, in memory of Neil. l Pictured above, Forensic Students L to R: Sitting N. Cook, M. Kosciuszko, B. Willet. Standing M. Howey, C. In spite of the lack of participation by this year's student-body, Harrison sent six students to the Regional Contest. Jerry Becker captured lst place in Ra- dio Broadcasting, and Nancy Cook was awarded second place in Humorous Read- ings at the District Contests. 66Freshman Basketball' Pictured above L to R-M. The freshmen basketball team played outstanding basket- ball this season compiling a 9-7 overall record and a 9-2 con- ference record which took a second place in the Jack Pine conference. The team showed amazing stamina and durability especially since the team was composed of seven players for most of the season. Mark Tyrna and Dean Boulton lead the way offensively for the Hornets but, the team won by playing tough, aggres- sive TEAM defense. Pictured aboveg D. Boulton and R. Bucholz. The theme The Way We Were' was portrayed with a collage ofjuniors and seniors through- out their school days and from past year- books. The prom was considered a success mainly because ofthe funky sounds of 4'The Juarez Brothers who provided the music and the catering by Kay Haskin and Carol Wynne. The decorations for the prom were provided by the junior class and included: blue streamers, silver columns, collage, silver stars, a painted backdrop, and vines with red carnations. i The Senior Class of 1977 SCOU Adsit Alice Allbee Kim Allison Z, i Aviw 55-V ' .fi -V 1: - -If M 1 l l k A s si M i Z :ima , Leo Amerman Jesse Bailey Steve Beadle fig KfiS Beamer Cliff Blackledge Kelly Blosser 4 wi, Harold Bobo Herb Bohr Cindy Border Steve Braman Robert Brmgold Darlene Brooks Joe Brown Marcia Brown Jeff Bughong Debby Buzzell Joe Caruso Bryan Case Sandra Cage Chaffee Randy Keeley Coburn Pat Connelly KHY C0014 Nancy Cook Paul Cornell Mike Cowell T eana C1'6HSh3W Lorraine Cudney Ed Davis J W9 Tonibavis Vickie Davis William Davis Randy Deng Larry Dibble David Duncan Hope Dufdon Penny Durham Ken Dyke 'milky Qi Norma Dyke Dennis Ecklin Julie Ehlff Mark Engel Calvin Farrand S 1 uel en Fletch Stacy Gallery Annette Gass 'e man Debb1 79922 Pam Gorton Chadree Harper Dee Heintz John Hoeft Mike Henry Barbara Holle Y I James Haskell Susan Henry Melody Howey Peggy Hulliberger Mark Hunter Connie Huntley .fgwwc W Tammy Huntley Cathy Irwin Kim Kenyon Chuck Kirchner Duane Kleinhardt Michele Kosciuszko WMWMW Barb Korsis A Cheri Krocker Melanie Kullman Debbie Kuybus X . 1, I 3:' in Cheryl J. Fl d Alumni Association g The Harrison Community Schools Alumni Associa- tion is the oldest active high school alumni group in Michigan. ln 1977 we will celebrate 75 years of meeting an- nually to renew old friendships. At the beginning when the school was much smaller complete banquets were held: at first in what is now the Masonic building and was then called the opera building. Through the years the event has been streamlined because of growing membership and is now a coffee hour held every Memorial Day weekend at the high school. For the past two years the high school drama department has provided the entertainment with a series of skits. You Hold the H'sto y fthe W Id'ntheP I 0fV Ha d.
