Pifer. 23 | St¥e  «0 c u NIO MICHIGAN Antunuiulu COLLEGE Hornets Take League and District Championships Mr. Larson has served in the capacity of Superintendent for four years and has been ably assisted by Mrs. Newman, his secretary. Administration Provides Our Principal, Mr. Mayfield, and his secretary, Mrs. Hileman, work together on school transcripts and grade point averages. 28 The final decision on school policy rests with the School Board, whose members are William Hileman, Sr., secretary; Robert Lar son. Kenneth Haskell, trustee; Paul Clark, trustee; Jane Lipovsky, trustee; Charles Ashcraft, president; James Schneider, Sr., vice-president; and Wayne Trowbridge, treasurer. Control Mrs. Roth is the newest addition to our staff, and serves as general school secretary. Mr. Smith, our guidance counselor, works hard to help the students plan their future. 29 For the first time, Harrison High has a full-time school nurse, and we are fortunate in having an excellent one, Mrs. Stan- field. Mrs. Richards and Mrs. Morrison explain some of the finer points of English. In addition to Mrs. Richards’ English classes, she also teaches the publications class and supervises the publishing of the newspaper and yearbook. Mrs. Morri- son also directs the senior play and supervises the preparation for the junior-senior banquet. 30 Teachers... Guiding the Face of Youth. This is also the first year in which we have had a full-time librarian. Mrs. Bosink, at the right, and her assistant, Mrs McCleary, assist the students in their research and pleasure reading. Mrs. Stocking, our sheriff , has undertaken the task of keep ing law and order in the study hall. 31 Training, typing, and tabulations.. .Mr. Richards helps business stu- dents prepare for the future. The Challenge To Form the Mr. Dobbick and Mr. Wright ex- plain an equation to the 3rd hour geometry class. Mr. Dobbick also teaches algebra I and office procedures, while Mr. Wright teaches advanced math. 32 of Teaching... Minds of Tomorrow Mr. O’Connor and Mr. Rosekrans bring studies of biology, chemistry, and science to a new light for their students. 14 Mr. Nigro. Mr. Sullivan, and Mr. McNeill make a happy trio as they leave school after another work-filled day. Mr. Nigro teaches government, economics, and geog- raphy. Mr. Sullivan teaches American history and comm, skills, and Mr. McNeill teaches world history and business math. 33 Mrs. Fosgett, home economics teacher, prepares H.H.S. girls for later life by teaching the arts of cooking, sewing, food nutrition, and home management. School Offers Program Designed to Provide Liberal Education Mr. Cleveland instructs students in the use of weld- ing equipment in one of his industrial arts classes. Pupils are also taught woodcraft and mechanical drawing in our excellent shop facilities. 34 Mr. Johnson serves as head basketball and baseball coach and assistant football coach. He also teaches junior high science. Mrs. Lubekert is the girls physical education instructor and teaches Spanish and French. Harrison’s athletic director, Mr. Bucholz, works at his desk at the elementary school, where he is principal. Student Council Strives to Improve The Student Council is composed of represen- tatives from each of the grades, 7th through 12th, and representatives from each of the or- ganizations. This group is continually trying to improve student-administration relations and organize school functions. This year's officers are, left to right: Mr. Bosink, advisor; Nancy Cooley, secretary-treasurer; Mark Nixon, presi- dent; and Rod Stocking, vice-president. Before joining the FTA, a student must tell why he or she wants to join and what he feels he can gain from the club. The FTA has an increase of ten mem- bers over last year. Varsity Club Cains Nine To enter the Varsity Club, a boy must earn a letter in baseball, basketball, football, or track. Managers or statisticians who have served four years are also eligible. This year the offi- cers are, left to right: Dave Ferguson, secretary-treasurer; Ted Furhman, vice-president; and Tom Ulicki, president. It is the job of the Pep Club to be a cheering section for our ° ' Hornets. Many of the posters which appear in the halls on game days are the work of the Pep Club. Honor Society Gains 20 Members 79 Planning a yearbook might be compared to going the wrong way on a one-way street: There’s a lot against you —Conflicting schedules, rapidly approaching deadlines, and endless copy and photo requirements. But all this must come to an end just as the school day ends and the students go home. Soon you will close the door of the 1967 HORNET.
