Harrison High School a vivid description of the many views that have been observed in our past twelve academic years. hard ness past. ut The seniors, along with their advisors, have worked diligently to produce the 1966 Bulldog. We have strived to sustain the ideals and principles that were embedded in this school by our predecessors: We honestly hope that as you look over our millions of milestones, you will obtain as much joy and happi- from them as we have had presenting them to you. May the underclassmen strive for and achieve as much success and happiness in the future as we have in the Editor - Georgia L. During these years you have changed from children to pre-adults. Somewhere along the line you had your first date. You attended your first dance. You learned to drive the car and got your driver's license. Some of you smoked your first cigarette. You played your first game in an inter-scholastic sport, possibly scored your first touch- down or hit your first home run. Many of you have already decided the direction which the remaining years of your formal education will take. Now you are about to have one of the most ego-stimulating experiences that can come to a young man or woman, that of receiving a high school diploma. The last four years of your lives have brought more developments for the en- hancement of human dignity than any comparable period in the history of America. Freedom for you has constantly changed during your four high school years from an ideal to a reality. Barriers have fallen and opportunities are appearing everywhere. These opportunities bring challenges, the like of which you have never seen before. You are now in competition. Your education and character must be superior if you are to succeed in the frightening pace of a frantic age that is already here. Continue your formal education and exploit all resources that might contribute to your becoming the most needed individual possible. God speed to you. Sincerely yours, L. Wilson, Your devoted principal Mmm VF,,,M,: rinripal 1 lfvarning Glngvihvr M Glime 09111 fur Qhinking meeting ihe Qhallengeg able uf unhmifs Hlvvting anh mixing winning muh Eu-sing Behiratiun On the faculty, of Richard B Harrison High School is a teacher SJ who continues to flourish in wisdom and in truth. May Harrison always stand erect in the heart of Johnston County and be glorious to the view to those who follow after us. SHIRD MILLARD SMITH ' ,S JESSE SMITH TH S ALPHONSE STANCIL law lttilstnrtl In the fall of l962, we came into the high school department with approximately 175 students. 'As time passed we lost many, leaving a mark of ll9. As we journeyed through the years of hard work, we came upon many new and exciting adventures. We found over the years that we were no longer to be pampered by the teachers. It was either John Doe had his assignment on deadline or not at all, On a whole, for the majority of us, high school was an entirely new place. We be came frightened and somewhat unaware of what to do, but, we soon became stable and were no longer acting as though we were lost. We were well on our way to a happy year in school and for the future years an even happier ones expected. Time went by rapidly. Then came the time to elect contestants for Miss Home- coming, and May Queen. All our homerooms worked discouraged to fulfill our aim which was to win these titles. The winning of the May Queen title by Georgia Perry was another sign that we were sure winners. We left the ninth grade and headed for an adventurous year as Sophornores. By this time, we were completely adjusted to high school life and its activities, ready to accept things as they came, no matter how difficult they seemed to be. Along with our advisors we worked very hard, knowing that anytime we had a problem or became discouraged we could go and talk to them to ease our minds. Again we worked very hard to please our advisors as well as ourselves. Now, we had learned nothing was given to us, one had to strive for whatever he wanted with all his might. Our prowess was now recognized as supreme because we easily won the Miss Homecoming and May Queen titles for 1964-1965. The greatest event was the Junior, Senior Prom . The theme, Hawaiian Moonlight, blended beautifully with the formal dress of the guests. For many of us it was our first real date. Preparing for the prom was a lot of hard work, but with the co-operation from the students and our old stand-bys, our advisors, it was a great success. We are now in our last year of high school. For many of us our education has ended for many of us it has just begun, for there will be many of us who will attend colleges or trade schools of our choice. Our big project for this year was the making of the 66 Bulldog Special, our an- nual. It was long, tiresome, many hours of hard work, but we didn't mind for we knew what we wanted and that we had to work for it along with our advisors.
