McLEANsBoRo o HARRISBURG as Harrisburg started the 1926 football season with the same offensive power that they showed in 1925 and trampled the Green and White lads from McLeansboro under a 63 to 0 defeat. There was rapid scoring all through the game, with Miller leading the individual scorers. 2' CARBONDALE 7 HARRISBURG 27 The next victim to fall by the hands of the Bull Dogs was Carbondale. Car' bondale was a strong conference contender, and placed most of her hopes in the mighty Red McGowan, but one good man could not defeat eleven good meng Har' risburg came home the winner. ANNA 0 HARRISBURG 110 The Bull Dogs with a group of loyal rooters went to Anna to participate in a football game, but after it was over they thought they had just won a Southern Illinois track meet, as the score indicates. MARION 191 HARRISBURG 28 Marion was the first team to penetrate the goal line of the Bull Dogs this year and this came about by several breaks in the game The Bull Dogs outplayed Marion by far in the first three quarters but in the last quarter with part of Harrisburgs second team in Marion staged a rally and by the time they had crossed the goal line three times many were glad to welcome the last whistle CAIRO 0 HARRISBURG 34 The Bull Dogs outclassed the Golden Tornadoes throughout the game and playing with manv substitutes ellminated the fourth consecutive conference con tender Captain Mlller aga1n proved his ablllty as a football player by making four of the five touchdowns BENTON 13 HARRISBURG 0 In this game Benton accomplished a deed they can justly be proud of that is they were the first team to beat the Harrisburg Bull Dogs in two years Benton had one nice football team and the Rangers were a little too much for the Bull Dogs METROPOLIS O HARRISBURG 39 With the last Saturday s defeat on their minds the Bull Dogs went into the game for revenge and got it The Bull Dogs showed themselves masters throughout the game and the result was that several of the Metropol1s lads were battered up a bit WEST FRANKFORT 14 HARRISBURG 7 Th1s was the hardest game to lose perhaps of any the Bull Dogs have lost rn several years The Bull Dogs still had a chance to tie for Conference Champlons and they played like Champions the first half but it seemed fate was against them for two timely breaks made West Frankfort s scoring easy It was no disgrace though to lose to West Frankfort for they finished the season unbeaten Deck them mth yozw bwghtest flouevs 1.'1s:11i x.1z.'1.x.3x. i:L.c1..s.'ixa 60 3 . . 1 . . ., , . .
