To the class of 1941: Within a few months you will complete a three year course in nursing. Even now you probably 'are making plans for the future. In the period of 'lite coming, you will be not only privileged to practice inde- pendently your chosen Work, but the duties of citizenship from which you have been more or less exempt Will then become obligatory. Thus tar your whole education, training and experience has been centered on preparation for these two functions. Very soon, Cperhaps too soon, to the timid spirit,J the opportunity to make an individual contribution to society will arrive. While the class as a Whole will be missed Within the Hospital circle, one rejoices that you are to begin the Practice of Nursing during a period, when your services will be greatly in demand. Not only the local community but the Whole country is rich with unlimited opportunities tor the professional nurse. ' In the march of years, classes like individuals are remembered by their character and personalities. The class ot 1941 will be held fondly in memory for many endearing traits, chief ot' which are friendliness, gentle thought- fulness, the ability to work together, and for your never failing devotion to nursing. Because of these things, Harrisburg Hospital shall be proud to claim you. Our dearest hope is, that when the rewards of honor, duty and loyal service are heaped upon you, you will be as closely associated in spirit with your school as you are today, and that the years will be kind to you. Sincerely, Edith E. Yingst, RN. 9
