.60 Dis COMMENCEMENT ARGUS LEONORE SNYDER A demure, quiet miss who has her own way of getting there , is this maiden. She is a dependable friend, true and loyal, and her classmates feel sure that no matter what she attempts, she's bound to succeed in that steady way of hers. May all your hopes come true, Lenore! 11 DELLA STEINER S. A. E., Red Cross Club, Debating Club, junior Civic Club, Class Play Committee. Here is the questionaire of Section F. Della can always be depended upon to pop an unusual question in the midst of a serious recitation. Tiny is also eilicient in answering. Let's hope she answers that one important question correctly, someday. 7 1 LILLIAN R. STRAW Gee Whiz! Debating Club, Red Cross Club, junior Civic Club. Here's the lady that knows what she says, but not always says what she knows. Lillian will be greatly missed by her classmates, but then why weep, when she will continue to laugh her way into the hearts of others? The Welfare Work will get a mighty fine addition when it gets you, Bunny. 7 1 EMILY THOMPSON Te gods! 'Ye gods! Must I endure all this? S. A. E., I. 1. C., junior Civic Club, Debating Club, Higher Standards Committee, Glee Club. We wonder if Tommy expects to travel after graduation. We hear she has been gaining a lot of information from the West-especially from a certain Michigan University. Well, here's luck to our sweet little Tommy whether her fortune be to travel, or-! Y 1 DOROTHY THRELFALL Oh, Hector l President, S. A. E. '26, Business Manager, Argus '26, Assist- ant Business Manager, Argus 'zgg j. j. C., Chairman, Class Play 'Ticket Committee, Class Secretary IV, Cross Word Puzzle Bazaar Committee, Argus 'Year Book Staff. Behold, the Shylock of Central! Dot surely knows how to extract money from seemingly empty pockets. A large part of the success of the Argus was due to Dorothy's financial ability when she as Skipper kept it clear of the rocks of poverty. THIRTY'FIVE

90 f- . -. .C pgs CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL MABEL SHAULL A merry word, a jolly smile, and a rippling laugh-that's Mabel. She is far famed for her gay, good nature. Like a star does she send forth her rays of good cheer. The world has need of such as you, Mabel. 1 1 GLADYS SHEAFFER Can't hear you. I'm asleep! Beta Phi '24-'25, D. S. '25-'26, Chemistry Club, Red Cross Club, junior Civic Club. Here we find the girl who hasn't really grown up. That's so they say, but we believe a little differently, because Gladys has her own opinions about certain matters-cars, for instance. She much prefers a Hudson. We hope there won't be any bumpy road. 7 Y LEAH P. SLEIGH Howdja do it? Twinkling of eyes, twinkling of toes, that's Lee . Her motto seems to be: Stay young along with me, the best is yet to be. Keep up your example, Lee , it's what the world needs. 11 DOROTHY SMITH Really it is! President, William Penn Dramatic Club, Secretary, Midyear Class, I, II and III, President, j. F. F.g j. j. C., junior Civic Club, Debating Club, Glee Club, Red Cross Club, Cross Word Puzzle Bazaar Committee, Class Play Candy Committee. Dot is a lover of literature and is especially fond of certain types of Books . 'LDot's favorite outdoor sport is hiking and she can correctly tell the exact number of bumps on a cer' tain 28 mile stretch of the Susquehanna Trail. We sincerely hope Dot's Books will have a happy ending. 1 Y EVELYN SMITH Isn't that darling! C. A. O., S. G. C., D. L. However, Emmet , take our advice. Don't be so meddlesome a motherfinelaw as Little Mrs. Cumminf' THIRTY'FOUR

ec- se. CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL ZOE TROXELL HeclQ! S. G. C., S. S. S., D. L. L., Chemistry Club, Red Cross Club. Ever hear Doadie play? Well, she certainly can. Ever see her dance the Charleston or paint pictures or bookmarks? These are just a few of Doadie's talents that have made her a valuable social as well as industrial asset to her class. May you realize your ambition as a great pipe organist, someday, Doa- die ! 1 1 ELIZABETH ANNABELLE UPP Aw, '1'ou're foolin'l Oh, you fraternity pin! We wonder what this signities? It is rumored that Betty is taking up house keeping-but no, of course not from Vance. Betty's favorite subject is Law- because she learns many grounds for argument. But, seriously, here is a girl who can be relied upon to do her best in whatever her future work may be. Y 1 BESSIE WEINTRAUB Le Cercle Francais. Do you remember the old saying, Good goods come in small packages? Well that seems to apply pretty well to Bess . What she lacks in size she seems to make up in vitality, for you can see her any day at 11:10 dashing down stairs to lunch. May old dame Fortune ship a carload of success to you, Bessie, in your future work! I 11 RUTH WEST Oh, I clon't know Class Treasurer III and IV, D. L. L. Society, Art Club, Cross Word Puzzle Tea Room Committee, Class Statistics. , Alexander Hamilton did no more for the new nation than Ruth West has done for our class. Not a penny slips away without Ruthie's knowing where it goes. We know we won't be bankrupt with Ruthie as our financier. The fact that she is our manhater only applies to the present. There will be a time when there will be one she won't hate. At least we hope so! Here's hoping she will be able to control her own purse-strings as she has controlled those of our class. if JOSEPHINE WILSON Oh, flop ! Secretary, O. T. Secretary, C. A. O., President, Chemistry Club Ig Le Cercle Francais, Debating Club, junior Civic Club. Red Cross Club, Cross Word Puzzle Bazaar Committee, Chair' man, Class Dance Committee, Class Play Sales Committee Class Statistics. Teachers' Pet! That's what the class voted Jong and we can't blame them much, for we honestly believe that she loves her teachers,-especially some whom she ardently admires. But, while all this may require talent, jo has other talents such as willingness and dependability that have made her absolutely essential to her class. We are waiting everyday, Jo , to hear the Associated Press announce that you have won a place in Paul Whiteman's Band. T H IRTY'SlX
