The year rolled round and in due time we became Sophomores. As Sophomores we welcomed the school kindergarten, the class of IQO6, with all the dignity befitting our high positions. Of course we spend most ofthe time talking about ourselves and telling the Freshmen and those of the upper classes, who will listen, how great the class of 1905 really is, and what we mean to do in the future. We think this is the proper thing to do, and as no one else seems anxious or even willing to praise us, we have to praise ourselves. Of course, as a patronizing junior kindly told us, we will get over this in time. In june, the usual base-ball game was played between the Sophs and the Freshies, resulting in a great victory for 1905 by a score of 21-ao. Again we enjoyed the Summer vacation to its fullest extent, and came back brown and rosy, prepared to study at least three hours every night. The next important event in our history was the IQO5' 1906 foot-ball game. The sky was threatening and a stiff Northeaster blew across the gridiron. We put up a tough game, but either our men misunderstood the signals, or-well, anyway the score was not in our favor. VVe have always been noted for our exceptionally good behavior and also for diligence in burning the midnight oil. Our teachers predict great things for ns I ! ! l We have organized, and it is the firm resolve of each member that the class of IQO5 shall be the greatest class that ever was graduated from the Harrisburg High School. Freshmen F walking on a morn' in April You should see some bits of green, Slowly rambling towards the High School A most animated scene, You willlcnow by looks and gesture By their faces, too, I Ween, That they're Freshmen. If you go inside the building You can see them in the hall, Some are big and some are little Some are short and some are tall, Some are bright and some are stupid But that's not worst of all, They're Freshmen. Go into a Freshman class-room You can hear each one reciteg Some in Latin, some in English Struggling hard with all their might, Ne'er desparing when they Hunk it. Those children they're all right, WVhen tl1ey're Freshmen. In years after when you see them VValking on life's way, You will hnd they're not so verdant As you saw them at their play, But a change has come upon them Awaiting long the judgment Day g Tl1ey're not Freshmen. 54
