We saw fathers and hrothers leave home prepared to give their lives to hring peace to the world. Ivlany feel that unless a miracle of grace happens, we ourselves shall he called upon to make the supreme sacrifice. lt is only natural, then, that we eenter our thoughts on Our Lady, Mcither of the Prince of Peace, and hee her intereesion to hring peace into the hearts of all men. Through the numerous apparitions of Our Lady in this Twentieth Century, Christ has shown He wishes His Mother to he honored. Prompted 'hy the example of Christ and the lessons learned at our Alma lvlater, we place our hearts in IVIary's Immaculate Heart, We rely on her Mercy. We hee a continuance of the Christian Charity manifested hy Our Lady. As a iinal token of esteem, we, the Senior Class of 1953, lovingly place this sixteenth volume of PRIDWEN under the guidance of Our Lady. Sheltered under her protection, we can look up to Heaven on every occasion and say, l'With you, Cur Lady, to strengthen us, it is good for us to be here. , if wif M ,gf X if 1 C 5 F1 A ' ,dl gi gg? :X 'Qvx AK 'I J., i zz- -.Tb 4 R L 1 1254 ' r S . 4 . ,Q Ms: '- X' v.. On every occasion our Bishop manifests a tender love for children. Even we, the teenagers, occupy a special place in his heart. This, His Excellency displays by his frequent and often unannounced visits to the School, the manner in which he marks our progress, his attendance at our entertainments, social gatherings, and graduation. We are hlessed that God has placed Bishop Leech over us to guide, direct, and teach us hy word and example. Truly, because of His Excellency, it is good for us to be here. George L. Leech, D.D., J.C.D. THE E INSTR CT US Ever mindful of her motto, In RCligl'OHlS Garden Wisdcnm Grows, Catholic High provides ll thorough training in the study of Religion. S Nam H1504 John Rozman, President en ior hcem Our Class, 193 strong, entered Catholic High as freshmen, September 1, 1949. Since then one of our number left for Heaven, some moved elsewhere, others discontinued school, Now we number 162. A wellfrounded course of instruction interspersed with extracurricular activities to meet the needs of all of us has made the years pass quickly. Some have achieved high scholastic honors, even meriting scholarships to colleges and universities. Others have made names as school leaders or as champions in the various sports, The majority have been content to give wholehearted cooperation to every endeavor whether we merited praise or not. As we prepare to leave Catholic High School we know we shall miss our dear Alma Mater, We wish publicly to thank our Principal, the Sisters, and all others who make up Catholic High for their interest in us. Already we have learned that it was good for us to be here. Barbara had many friends. Her intense love for the Blessed Sacrament and Our Lady enabled her to endure her long illness to the edif hcation of doctors, nurses, and friends. Deciding not to let class work or school activities hecome hurdensome to us, we have enjoyed our entire Junior Year, It will he time enough to hecome serious when we are Dignified Seniors, Therefore, the things some classes found diflicult, we enjoyed. Not even new suhjects as chemistry, homemaking, stenography, and typing dampened our spirits. We feel we have contrihuted greatly to make the year so outstanding in athletics and oratory. We even think our talents improved the Band, Clee Cluh, and Choric Speech Choir. For all we have received at Catholic High, we are convinced it is good for us to be here. junior Class Officers study rules of parliamentary procedure, Seated, left to right: Evelyn Haas, secref taryg Philip Clay, president. MOTTO: TO Do Something Every Day The Christ-Like Way Early in the year, we, the Sophomores decided to make everyone aware of our presence. We began first by earning places on the honor rolls for studies and cooperation. We boosted the drives and gave competition to other classes. At noon we filled the cafeteria with our voices which our teachers thought were too loud. We sup' ported the teams with new members and with wholehearted cheers. At the dances and the rallies we outnumbered the others. We look with pride at being charter members of the Chef's Club. Ready now to become juniors, we hope everyone else thinks as we dofit is good for us to be Here. Class officers plan Sophomore calendar of events. Fourth 196 On September 1, 246 of us enrolled as fresh' men. Immediately a sixth homeroom had to be opened for us. Rosters adjusted, we began an eventful year. Every period we changed rooms for another class. Except for carrying books, lunches, and gym bags, this delighted us. We took our places with the upperclassmen in the Band, in assembly programs-in fact, in everyf thing at the School we received recognition, Cur teachers deserve a great reward for their patience with us. With one year behind us, we look for' ward to the three years awaiting us at Catholic High. In unison we agree, it is good for us to be here.
