HEN the Student Council, elected hy the students of Catholic High School, recited their pledge of loyalty at the installation ceremony, they automatically assumed the duties and privileges of Student Council oHicials. The student organization's aim is to cstahlish complete cooperation he- twcen the faculty and student hodyg to emphasize training that makes for good leadership and sterling characterg to stimulate interest in all activities that represent the school. During the past year the Student Council sponsored the Magazine Drive, Bread and Cake Sale, Student Council Assembly, Fashion Show, and Regional Meeting. It also conducted School Dances at the Catholic Youth Center on North Street, and honored the Seniors at graduation with a Senior Dance.

A watermelon party given by the nicinbers of the Martin dc Porres Club is thoroughly enjoyed by these youngsters, except the little lady in the foreground, whose eyes must have been bigger than her stomach. SISTER BERNADETTE, S.C.C. HE members of this club work at the House of Hospitality on Seventh Street twice each week. This zealous group gives its after-school hours to instruction and entertainment of the colored children of that neighborhood who come there. The most successful event of this year which this group effected was the conversion and baptism of an ailing colored man. Interests, however, are not only spiritual, but temporal as well. During the year the club members secured a self-player piano for the center, and hauled in a truck load of apples for the winter. Uceasional parties at Halloweten, Christmas, and Easter, help greatly to break down race prejudice. PAGE 51
