O R GREE YE R E WHO knows not, and knows that he knows not is a Freshman . . .teach him. And as we entered Catholic High and were swept into the whirlpool of activity and the quest for higher learning, we realized what little we really did know. Tremblingly we encountered strange faces, rooms, teachers, subjects, and still stranger customs, such as, different teachers for each class, study periods, activity period, saying a prayer before tl1e beginning of each class, listening to announcements over the loudspeaker. Soon, however, we be- came accustomed to the new regime and went about tackling problems in algebra, imbibing Christian p1'ineiples, conjugating and translating in Latin and French, as well as learning endless new things in science and history. Extracurricular activities afforded us an outlet for our surplus energy. At the end of the first marking period it was the Freshmen who topped the list. Our interest in football, basketball, glee club, and pep squad was manifested by the large number who participated in them. Soon we had mounted the first rung of the Ladder of Learning, but we continue our climb in subsequent years, we shall never forget the experiences, and anxieties of Hour green year. PM
