THE PANTHER l953 CLASS HISTORY The semor class of T953 began nts colorful hugh school days IH September of T949 when the ten green frosh entered H H S The freshmen enloyed a pleasant year under the leadershlp oft e following offlcers Presldent Janet MacDonald Vrce Presudent Ray Whiteside Secretary Janet McCorm1ck Treasurer Donna Maurer Soclal Chaarman Greg Knapp Board of Control Rep Larry Barley Sgt at Arms Norman Severson Class Advlsor Miss Dorace Hornberger The flrst event of the freshman class was the October T4 lnutlatlon whlch the Iunlors directed membershlp to nune Just before prom tame each of the four H H S classes chose a gurl from tts class to be a candsdate for Crnderella Donna Maurer was the cholce of the class of 53 and she was a prnncess at the prom The flnal event of our ftrst year ln high school was our class pxcnnc which we held at the Natatorlum Park In Spokane on May 26 At the beginning of our sophomore year rn H H S Darrell Varnler golned our class brlngung the total to ten as we had had the year before Elected to head the class for the school year l950 5l were Presrdent Jtm Larsh Vice Presudent Greg Knapp Secretary Larry Bailey Treasurer Janet MacDonald Social Cha man Ray Whltesrde Board of Control Rep Darrell Varnuer Sgt at Arms Noman Severson Class Advisor Mlss Dorace Hornberger Durung our eventful sophomore year we had a cake raffle which proved to be prosperous and we also sold candy and gum at the home ball games lt was durrng thus year that our class furst had a party guven In Its honor The freshmen lost to us an a magazlne sellung contest and sponsored the dance party We had a plcnuc at Wrlllams Lake and then we traveled to Spokane where we engoyed roller skatung bowlung and movues Dursng the summer Donna Maurer was chosen Prlncess Harrungton At the Queen Dance IH August she was selected to be Queen of the l95l Llncoln County Falr The annual freshman unutlatuon began a year to be filled wlth much actuvlty when twelve green frosh were unltuated unto the student body on October lf? The frosh came to school dressed In all sorts of clothrng combunatuons, then durung the half time of the football game wlth Sprague they provuded entertalnment for the fans , . h . . : During October Carroll McKinney moved to Twin Falls, Idaho, lowering our class
