most important day in the life of Mr H Warren Downing for today he is being inaugurated President of the United States The ceremonies are being broadcasted and telecasted to all parts of the world Now the bands are playing the Star Spangled Banner and the parade is starting down Washington Avenue First is the car of President Downing followed closely by a float with the eight mem bers of the Harrington High School class at 1953 I will describe these interesting color ful characters to you On my right is Janet McCormick who is the President at Vassar College She tells me that the reason that she chose this occupation was because she could never stand men At my left is Mildred Layton who has spent many years of work perfecting her protects being dietitian of state and national prisons Since 1959 when she began the Millie Method there has been only one prison riot I . . S . . . , 9 . . . 9 V . etc., which now stand in their path, and in every way possible strive to follow our I . THE PANTHER T953 PROPHECY OF THE HARRINGTON HuGH SCHOOL CLASS OF T953 IContunuedT Mr N B Severson us probably the most dustunguushed member of our class he has aovanced hus posutuon to the head of General Motors corporatuon N B us world famous becaus of the unventuon of hus aur motor whuch needs no gasolunung TAnd they saud that auto shop class dudnt teach us anythung T Ray Whutesude us the publusher of Esquure magazune for 'nen and the photography edutor of that peruoducal He was an ace photographer un hugh school and I remember at the unutuatuon of the Class of T956 he was busy takung puctures of the gurls durung theur pear race However he dudnt take pictures of therr noses but went to the other end of thc subuects The most well known member of our class us Mr Larry Bauley who has recently been abroad on a concert tour although he us more famous for hus composung than these manv personal appearances He us also kept busy wuth hus hobbues scuence and basketball He was unspured un the fueld of scrence by a report glven ID physucs class about the late Albert Eunsteun and has umproved several of the great scuentusts theorues The past few years un hus spare tume h has played basketball for the House of Davud but Larry feels that he us too old at the age of 67 Greg Knapp tells us that he us socuologust and has wrutten many famous artucles and books He has always been unterested un people and at the Unuversuty of ldaho he decuded that thus was the fueld for hum He claums that the only way to learn about people us to study them when they are unaware of these obserxotuons He does thus by dusguusung humself as a tramp and beggung on the streets of New Orleans As our float us goung down tlse streets Greg has hus hand outstretched wuth hrs Tuttle cup beggung for pennues Darrel Varnuer us the only member of our class who has been un Harrungton un the la t 20 years and he has many storxes about ut to tell us But furst about Darrel He us most famous for hus dance studuo un Harrungton After graduating from hugh school he became a partner of Arthur Murray and then moved to Harrungton were he became famous for hus modufucatuons of the Charleston the Tango for Two and the Johnson Rag Because hus dance school needs so luttle of hus tume he has become the sports edutor ofthe Harrung ton Cutuzen Darrel tells us that our faur town has grown to a populatuon of 300000 sunce T960 when they decuded to buuld a new hugh school TThey had decuded the one buult un T9T4 was gettung too old T When the old school was torn down they duscovered uranuum under the lunch room People naturally came to Harrungton by the thousands and ut has been a prosperous cuty sunce You maybe have notuced that none of these notable persons from our class have been marrued lt us the furst class graduated from Harrungton Hugh School to remaun spouseles and l am no exceptuon l play the tuba un the Salvatuon Army Band un Phuladelphla Pennsylvanua and luve happuly wuth an old maud school teacher and my dog Now the parade us reachung the factory Oh l almost forgot to tell you Mr Downung was elected Presudent of the Unuted States Buscuut Company becoming a baker after returung from the teachung professuon H W taught school untul January T954 and then was forced to change occupatuons exclaumung that he could stand these 20th century teen agers no longer It us now 9 30 and we are enuoyung dancung to the musuc of Sammue Muzzuto and hus Zactly Band who played for our uunuor prom 50 years ago By Janet An MacDonald . . .
