lT'S A GIRL! Such words greeted your entrance into life. Had you been born of Chinese parents, that remark would have meant tragedy. You were born or have made your home in the United States, and as an American citizen you are reaching toward equal rights for girls and women. Toledo was interested enough to provide a modern school for your education. You have spent three years in Whitney halls lclass- roomsl and heard teachers and advisers dispense truth severe, by fairy fiction drest, Next year will be a new adventure. For most of you formal lessons will be overg work experience will occupy a large part of your time. School days will be engraved in your book of memories. Eliza Cook in Old Dobbin says, How cruelly sweet are the echoes that start When memory plays an old tune on the heart. The days of Old Dobbin were unknown to girls of today. The age of atomic control is upon us. During the in- terim women have been accepted by industry. With skill to do, with mind to decide right from wrong, with courage in your heart you are equipped to meet the years ahead. Success and pleasant memories to each of you, lt's a girl in United States denotes responsibility as well as privilege. -Ethel Wooden
