Miss Maude Woolhouse is well-known and respected by all those who have come in contact with her during the past twenty-five years. Each group of students had to work for her, and work hard. Not only will she be remembered for the thorough background which she gave them in the English language, but she will also be remembered for her fine sense of humor. Our school system has been fortunate, during the past ten years, to have the services of Mrs. Aileen Wendell, a teacher of very high standards. Because of her patience and her desire to help students, many students have achieved their goal of proficiency in French or Latin. Her kindness has endeared her to many a student. The year thus far are but a small begin- ning in the development of one's whole self for life. Life after your school years appears to be increasingly more complex than that of your parents. Education should be the coveted wish of all, particularly that of your fu- ture employers. The trend today seems to be that the more education an individual possesses, the more likely he will be able to achieve a more sat- isfying life. Reading, if one can judge its value upon the magnitude of books published today, will be the basis of keeping abreast of the times. In our complex society, as it emerges, you will be required to read more and more to maintain your role in life. We have but scratched the surface in preparing you for the years to come. We feel we would like to continue our role in your development, but such is not our opportunity. This re- sponsibility is charged to those people you are yet to meet in your ensu- ing years. We will remain keenly interested in each and everyone of you, and exhibit pride in having had some small part in your success in life. May we sincerely wish each of you continued success in all your future endeavors. God speed. Sincerely, Harold J. Mueller Supervising Principal Businesss Manager Clerk of the Board ri' i1 I Mr. Eugene Houck Mrs. Josephine Wood 6 A i Board of Education Seated: Mr. Kellerman, Mr. Williams, Mr. Winsor, Mr. Schofield, Mr. Bickhart. Absent: Mr. Weiss- man, Mr. Malagari. High School Principal Congratulations to the Graduating Class of 1968 and the Staff of the Yearbook. Your efforts and talents have made this one of our best yearbooks. I wish you all success. All of us want to be a success. We want the satisfaction of knowing that we have used our abilities to do something worth- while- that we are appreciated by others for our effort and that we are making the world better for others by our presence. Some of us think that by going to school we well learn how to be successfulg some even think that they will automatically be come a success. This is not true. We start in school but we never really finish. Your education at this point has just started. Sincerely, fwffgfawa Robert R. This years squad completed the best record for Harpursville since 1961. The league record was 1-3-2, and over all 2-3-2. Harpursville was never out of any ball game. This was the first season since the championship season that Harpursville was never shut out. The team defeated the Greene B team in its non-league ppen- er and defeated Oxford 27-7 for their league victory. They tied Unatego 13-13 and they also tied the 1967 co- champions, Bainbridge-Guilford 14-14. They lost to Hancock 34-15 but held them to only 7 points in the sec- ond half. They lost to Afton 18-14, after being ahead at one time in the game, 14-0. They lost to the other co- champions, Deposit, 28-7, but the game was half way through the 4th quarter and the score was 7-0 in favor of Deposit before they were able to put the game on ice. It was a good season with many sophomores on the squad who will be back for two more years. The J .V. team had a winning season 4-2, which bettered last years 3-3 record. At 112 lbs. is Mark Stoeckelwho, in dual meets, has had two winning seasons, 1965-66 at 112 lbs., 1966- 67 at 120 lbs., and this year is 2 and 1 at 112 lbs. At 127 lbs. is Doug Bryce, who, like Stoeckel, in dual meet records has had two winning season. In 1965- 66 at 120 lbs., 1966-67 at 127 lbs., and this year is undefeated at 127 lbs. Last year Doug was one of top 10 wrestlers in Section IV at 127 lbs. by defeating Williams of Sidney and going into the second round of the Section IV semi-finals at Sidney. At 145 lbs. is Scott Schaefer who joined the squad a year ago at 138 lbs. and maintained a winning dual meet record. This year is 2 and 1 at 145 lbs. after a 1-3 loss to Parsons of Bainbridge in his first match, At 180 lbs. is Art Baciuska who has had a winning dual meet record for the past 2 years at 165 lbs. Last year Art missed the Sectionals due to an injury suffered in the Pioneer League Meet in which he placed 3rd. This year moving to the heavier weight class, Art is finding that the weight does make a difference with a 1-2 record so far. The biggest loss from last years' squad was Wiley Vincent, who wrestled at 180 lbs. Wiley was one of the top 10 wrestlers in Section IV and just missed going to the Sectional finals at Union Endicott when he was decisioned in the last 20 seconds of the match 4-3 by Harold Neals of Walton. Other returning lettermen are Phillip Kelley at 138 lbs., Keith Vincent at 154 lbs., and Herb Pleus at heavy weight. New men on the squad this year are Robert Bales at 95 lbs., Robert Hendrickson at 103 lbs., Stanley Smith at 120 lbs., Roger Schultz at 120 lbs., Robert Fairchild at 133 lbs., and Fred Harris at 165 lbs. This years, squad has some fine individual wrestlers, but lacks the punch for winning matches. This years, squad is the biggest in three years with 23 boys participating. We are looking forward to a J r. High program which we hope to start this year. 'fi Ni .. .If- .-- , 'K 9 sf , S x 5 6461 ? R Qi 21. .3 Row 1: M. Weiss, C. Skellett, S. Villecco, R. Blakeslee, D.
