C. McGuire's bases-loaded double sent 3 runners home. Nevada won the second game 7-O against a reserve Harpster line- up. Q Harpster opened the league schedule with a decisive 10-3 win over Marseilles. Snyder whiffed lk Marseilles hitters while giving up but l pass. Jury lined a single and a triple, both with runners on base, driving in 2 runs and scoring twice himself. In the next league game at Nevada on Sept. 20, the Crusaders lost a 5-lg. decision to the Bobcats. Although Harpster was leading lg,-2 going into the final frame with 2 down, 2 costly errors proved to be Harp- ster's downfall. C. McGuire doubled home 2 runs and Lewis drove home 2 more with a pair of singles. On Sept 22 Harpster started a four-game winning streak by dispos- ing of arch rival, Morral, by a lk-8 count. McGuire, and Iles ably set Salem down with some fine infield play. The big day of the season was Sept. 30, when the Harpster nine soundly thrashed Sycamore for the first time in 9 years. In addition to a steady mound job by Snyder, strong plays for the local club were Sanderson's running catch in left field with 2 men in scoring position and Lewis's long triple to center field with 2 mates on base. The final score was 5-0. Snyder collected his third shut-out in a row and his fourth of the season as Wharton fell to the Crusaders 5-O. The Harpster nine played errorless ball. On a day unfit for baseball, Harpster lost its final game of the season to Scutch 3-2. Swihart got the only Crusader hits, a pair of singles. Errors hurt the local cause. The Crusaders finished the sea- son tied for second place, and will play Scutch in the spring to see who will represent Wyandot County in the district.
