MISS McMURRY HEADMISTRESS Miss McMurry is many things. She is a charming lady, a gracious hostess, a smart dresser, and the Headmistress of Harpeth Hall School. This may sound like a remark- able combinatipn, but it has proved very effective and has earned Miss McMurry the respect and admiration of the entire student body. Sam ' s personal interest in each student begins before the student enters Harpeth Hall and continues beyond graduation. She has recog- nized the desires of the students with the formation of new courses such as Sociology and new organizations such as the Service Clubs. Her understanding of students and faculty has led to the formation of the Student- Faculty Committee. The longer one knows Miss Mc- Murry, the more one realizes that our Headmistress has a many-faceted personality. 20

DEDICATION Attention . . . dress right! This may seem like a mihtary command, but it is really Miss Patty keeping us in order. Throughout her years at Harpeth Hall, Miss Patty Chadwell has devoted much time and effort to a job that we seldom realize is a very difficult one. We rarely recognize the fact that it is necessary to be physically as well as mentally active. Because of her concern, Miss Patty sees that the standards of our athletic program are comparable to those of our academic program. As director of all athletics on the Harpeth Hall campus and sponsor of the Athletic Association, Miss Patty comes in contact with every student at Harpeth Hall at one time or another. Because everyone knows of Miss Patty ' s never-ending interest in the well-being of each girl, we proudly dedicate the 1971 Milestones to MISS PATTY.

MISS FESSEY DIRECTOR OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOL Since the founding of the Middle School in 1968, we have all seen a familiar figure walking up and down the halls, checking on classes, and cheerfully leaning over the Dutch doors. This person is the Middle School ' s outstanding Director, Miss Polly Fessey. She has been a wonderful example of kindness, understanding, and leadership to everyone at Harpeth Hall. We hope she will continue with us at our Middle School for many years to come. MISS MOUNTFORT COUNSELOR One person that everyone gets to know is Miss Pene- lope Mountfort or Miss Penny. As one of the most ver- satile figures of the school. Miss Penny is a biology teacher, sponsor of the Milestones, and college coun- selor. In her spare time, she also tutors! One can almost always see her flitting through the halls with a camera in hand or filling out transcripts in her office. Miss Penny plays a vital part in every student ' s life, and we are all indebted to her.
