MISS McMURRY HEADMISTRESS As Headmistress of Harpeth Hall, Miss McMurry makes her presence felt in all aspects of school life. Miss McMurry is not only concerned with the usual administra- tive responsibilities of running a busy school; she is also directly involved with the students themselves through her work with the Presidents ' Council. With her excellent rea- soning and guidance, Miss McMurry tries to give her ut- most consideration to the desires and needs of each student. »7

Through the years, each class at Harpeth Hall becomes a meaningful unit as the student begins to realize that her class is more than just another organized group. She soon learns that the actions of every individual student contribute to the personality of her class and the achievements it comes to represent. The unique personality of each faculty member at Harpeth Hall is also instrumental in molding the character of each class through its effects on the individual student. Students find that the teachers have a genuine concern for helping every girl come to a deep awareness of not only the academic world, but of life, her own self, and her potentials. Our teachers are helping us learn to relate our own ideas with what we have learned, and through education they are giving us the means to communicate these ideas with others. Through mutual respect and cooperation, the characters of each class and of the faculty can be fused into one.

MISS MOUNTFORT COUNSELOR When a student enters Harpeth Hall, one of the first people she will meet is Penelope Mount- fort, that efficient and awe-inspiring individual who administers tests. Yet somewhere along the way, Miss Mountfort becomes Miss Penny, mis- chievous school photographer. Yet when one works closely with Miss Penny, either through her ac- tivities as college counselor, or as Student Council and Annual Staff sponsor, one sees that Miss Penny is even more than all this. She is a lady with an irrepressible spirit, who can be the most helpful, the most encouraging, the most fun; in short, the most of whatever is demanded of her at any moment. FACULTY AND STAFF MISS FESSEY MIDDLE SCHOOL DIRECTOR The Middle School is now finishing its second year of smooth operation, and it is becoming increasingly clear that much of the credit for its success should go to Miss Polly Fessey. Miss Fessey is known and respected by every Harpeth Hall student, from sev- enth grader to senior. Whether in her office or at a hockey game, Miss Fessey ' s abilities are apparent to all. Her wise and kind lead- ership will have a great effect in helping to guide and shape the character of Harpeth Hall for years to come. 18
