Entering as young girls, we mature under her supervision and leave as young women. DEDICATION MRS. DOROTHEA GRIFFIN During her years at Harpeth Hall, Mrs. Griffin has been not only a teacher of history and mathematics, but, more importantly, a personal friend to her students. Through her, girls have seen the procession of past events become vividly alive and the principles of geometry and algebra become clearly comprehensible. In addition to her classroom hours, Mrs. Griffin has spent much of her own time in giving further help to many girls. For these acts she has endeared herself to her students in such a way that we feel her presence to be part of the vital and basic pattern of Harpeth Hall; therefore, we are proud to dedicate the 1966 edition of MILESTONES to Mrs. Dorothea Griffin. The Lady of the Hall for 1966 is Carol Procter. GEORGE WASHINGTON ' S BIRTHDAY Each February the Freshman Class honors two juniors by electing them George and Martha Washington. This year Lil Dobson was chosen to be George and Melissa Burrus, Martha. Under the guidance of Miss Chadwell, freshman girls practiced a horn-pipe dance, a soldiers ' march, a minuet, and a waltz, which they performed on George Wash- ington ' s birthday for the entertainment of the faculty, the parents, and the student body. Rasmussen retired from our English department at the end of this school year. Mrs. Rasmussen ' s contributions to the life of the school and her influence upon her students throughout the school ' s history are countless. Each girl who has graduated from Harpeth Hall has left with an insight into American litera- ture and an understanding of organization in writing that have been firmly imprinted in her through classroom experience with Mrs. Rasmussen.
