Above: ANGKOR ARISTON Angkor, Ariston, Eccowasin, Triad — these four clubs epitomize the spirit of Harpeth Hall activities. Enthusiasm and loyalty, keynotes of the school, are exemplified in each student ' s participation in her club. Through co-operation and good management, the efforts of each individual are made a part of the clubs ' work as an integral unit of Harpeth Hall. The importance of the four clubs to the school is seen through their interest in every phase of the curriculum. A club ' s achievement of a high scho- lastic average is rewarded by the presentation of a scholarship cup. Composed of students who lead in upholding the standards of the school and in establishing high ideals of character, the Council formulates the regula- tions and endeavors to guide the student body to a fuller appreciation of these standards. Upper PRESIDENTS ' COUNCIL The Presidents ' Council is composed of the presidents of the major campus organizations — the social clubs, the student council, the fresh- man, sophomore, junior, and senior classes, and the honor society. Its responsibility is to work with Mrs. Souby on matters concerning the student body as a whole. Members, who may be from any class, are selected by a judging of manuscripts submitted in the annual contest. The meetings, held twice a month, offer entertainment, in- formative discussions, and constructive criticism. PenstafT fills a definite need at Harpeth Hall; it is active in its job of stimu- lating, guiding, and encouraging the student to develop her creative talent. Hon- orary membership in the organization is awarded to those girls who have achieved scholastic merit and who also have strengthened the school by their citizenship or leadership. The Honor Society exemplifies an ideal to its members and presents a challenge to the whole school. The art appreciation class has visited exhibits at the Parthenon, the Centennial Club, and the Nashville Artists ' Guild. During the study of interior decorating, several Nashviilians graciously opened their homes to the members so that they might observe types of architecture and styles of decorating. The major activities of the year centered around preparation for the two public exhibits in which the most outstanding works of the class were displayed. A program of Easter music marked the high point of the club ' s achievements. The organization accomp- lishes much scholastically as well as socially and has included in its varied activities field trips to surround- ing regions, and projects on the campus. Each girl has an opportunity to participate in French games and other planned activities. Throughout the past year, Madame Fountain, the energetic sponsor, was one of the most active and ardent members; her enthusiasm added greatly to the success of the club. Among its programs were talks on Mexico and Guatemala, Spanish solos, and tourist views of Mexico. These entertainments were climaxed by the graduation exercises which were held on the fourth of June.
