I IJXDlilRWAY, SHIFT COLORS Between the liiial goodbye and the ship ' s initial surge from the pier, there is that poignant moment that will be imprinted in a sailor ' s mind torthe next six months. The sadness olleavin!: o cd ones, a healthy excitemeni Um w liat lies ahead, a slight fenr the unknown, the anticipation of the anival home- these emotions wc»] c an image that lingers long after the ship has left the harbor. Fit some, that image might have been the steady drizzle, or the somber faces on the pier, many wiping away tears. Fit a few, it might have been the nostalgia of a final deployment. What,c cr the case, you can bet that every cicw member can recall what they were doing, thinking or dreaming about on December 5th, 1998.
