LAAD The mission of LAAD unit is to provide close-in low altitude surface-to-air weapons fires in defense of forward combat areas, vital areas, and instilla- tions. It also provides low altitude air defense for units engaged in special and independent opera- tions. Each LAAD team has the mission to protect the unit it is supporting from attack bv aircraft.
