Its membership consists of girls who are willing to devote their spare time to bettering the GAA. The fall semester officers were Nancy Mattice, Carol Gottschalk, Elaine Haugh, and Arlene Miller. The spring officers remain the same except lor Carol Gottschalk who is President and Shirley Smith, Vice-President. The 500 Club, also supervised by Mrs. Stanek is the halfway mark towards getting a letter. The Girls' Letter Club, sponsored by Niiss Schmook, holds many social functions outside oi school. One ol the most enjoyable affairs was the initiation. Carol Gottschalk, Carol Kozak, Pat Donavzm, Ruth Esch, Aiidfea Duval, and Barbara Crane were officers. Page 20

In and Cui 'ro Win lHEIlll'llllillllllllllllllll f' GOLF AND SWIMMING During warm spring days, it seems as though many of the business executives are bitten by that little golf bug. But this little pest has also busied himself annoying teachers by using his charm on already weakened by spring fever, pupils. Some of Harper's now prominent and enthusiastic golfers can be found practicing at Marquette Park and playing at jackson Park every pleasant day. While on the subject of holes, Harper's aquatic artists may be found frequenting one of their favorite swimming holes to limber up and keep in shape for next year's team and swim meets. Although Harper has not been up with the best high school teams they are becoming a promising threat in the city meets. I Page 19

Racquefeers TENNIS Look out for that forearm swing! lt's Mary Sokaschitsch, one ol Mrs. Stanek's 'Aracqueteersf' sending the ball sailing over the net to score another point, Every Tuesday Marquette Park's tennis courts are invaded by the GAA. tennis club. YVhen the girls are not outdoors, they practice serves, backhands, and swings in the girls' gym with the very capable help ol' two of the members, -lo Ann Overaa and Shirley Smith who assist Mrs. Stanek in showing the girls many of the various skills which are necessary to play a good game of tennis.
